@willjawando since you never debated your duly elected GOP opponent @EstherLWells perhaps you can answer a few questions from a MoCo taxpayer. Please don’t forget, you work for us, not the opposite way around. Your failure to respond truly makes you disqualified to serve:
1) Why did you recently vote to permanently suspend the $692 ITOC?
2) Why did you accept PAC money which is not allowed once you’ve accepted public matching funds?
3) Why is MoCo planting thousands of trees, which the County can’t afford, when the County is already dense with National & State parkland?
4) Why did you vote to make Ride On buses completely free to ride, when the County can’t afford to provide these free services?
5) Why did you visit China in October 2025, and what exactly was the benefit for MoCo?
If you can answer these 5 questions, I’ll then supply more.

Something is not adding up in #MCPS.
We have nearly 9,000 fewer students than we did in 2019. Yet this year’s budget is $3.72 billion, the biggest in MCPS history.
The County Council could fund only two-thirds of what our schools asked for in building repairs and construction. Yet the Board signed a 10-year warehouse lease at $246,000 a month, without the money to pay for it.
The Board cut 415 positions this spring, laying off 47 educators and involuntarily transferring 162 more. Weeks later, MCPS posted communications jobs paying up to $171,000 a year.
Fewer students. More money. Less in the classroom.
Who asked the questions before these votes were taken? Who explained them to you?
That is what one independent voice on the Board is for. One member cannot block a vote. But one member can ask, out loud and in public, where the money is going and why it is not reaching our classrooms. Swipe through and ask yourself why that is so threatening to MCEA.
You do not have to accept “this is just how it works.” You can ask questions too, starting with your vote.
Early voting is open through Thursday, October 29, from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Election Day is Tuesday, November 3.
