There's no shortcut. You learn by building i.e. writing the code yourself. Be a healthy skeptic. Be humble. Have strong opinions but hold them loosely. Do not chase hype. Assess what actually works for you.
I want your best Android dev advice 🗣️ If you are an experienced Android developer, what are some of your best tips for people starting their Android dev career?

Classic "PE org wearing a trenchcoat with tech company scribbled on the back" move. The lack of empathy is astounding. Bragging about how much better this will be whilst telling them thank you with the other side of your mouth rings hollow.
Today we’re laying off a large part of the Airtable team. This is not a reflection of their work but a reflection of our deep belief that small teams ship more and better. For Airtable, better is about to look like: - A new Core team shipping your top requests monthly (already 30+ shipped in 3 weeks) - Upgraded Omni, Airtable Canvas, a stronger MCP, and BYO agents, coming soon - New Performance and Infra teams focusing on speeding up bases and increasing limits on records, fields, and syncs To everyone leaving: thank you. If you’re hiring, these are excellent people and worth a call.

Nah, I'm not buying it. Spend a month to a year focusing on any particular subject and anyone can sound very, very smart, very quickly. Deep expertise however, is something that comes from several years of focused study. I'd very much like to read his published papers first.
Ben Affleck reveals he writes Python, understands convolutional neural networks, worked extensively with GPUs, and used his celebrity status to get private looks at Google and OpenAI’s video models “I’ve always been kind of into computers since I was young. Then, when film started to move from analog film to digital, I became more interested in that aspect of it. The visual-effects workflow for many years has included machine learning, so I can write pretty shitty Python scripts and stuff like that. “With convolutional neural networks, which were the precursors to what the transformer can do, which is much more computation simultaneously, you would do things like look at what’s called a tensor. That’s the numerical translation of a visual image in numbers, like the batch number, the frame number and the red, green and blue values of each pixel in each frame. It’s just that simple. That numeric is called a tensor. “You’d use a convolutional neural network to identify patterns that reveal what’s called edge detection or feature extraction, which is identifying patterns well enough to know, this is where the window ledge is, so we can more easily take the green-screen image out and replace it with something. “That was familiar to me early on because, prior to Artists Equity, I had a small visual-effects company. I’ve worked with GPUs a lot too. The visual-effects guys said, ‘Hey, you should see. There are a couple: Google and this other company, OpenAI, are doing really interesting stuff with transformers in video.’ “I’ve learned that I can actually just call up and go, ‘Hey, it’s Ben Affleck. Can I come see what you’re doing?’ Sometimes people say yes, to my astonishment.”

If it was any other unknown dev, it would be a robotic "Sorry, fix your issues to be approved for release.". However, because @steipete has some notoriety, it's "Oh don't worry about following our set principles. Here come to the front of the queue". Rules for thee not for me.

Approvals done from our side. You're ready to publish anytime you'd like. Sorry for the delay There was a crash issue on Wear OS which was holding things up a bit, but we'll contact you about that separately to try to help. Thank you for building for Android. @steipete

This is part of what is wrong with software today. Giving preferential treatment because of notoriety shows how decrepit certain areas of Google is.

And the new update is live - thanks so much!

When you display sound logic in challenging @unclebobmartin 's questionable stance, his sycophants come out the woodwork exposing their subpar character. I displayed no idiocy but solid logic. They overstate their importance & don't like hearing their emperor has no clothes.

Disclaimer: Warm'ish take and I hate to say this truly but I think its time Uncle Bob removed the software craftsman descriptor from his bio if this is true and he's not just engagement farming.

Almost as if all those leetcode gymnastics they make you do has little to do with the actual job.
Oh my god, Firebase’s SDK started to crash ALL iOS apps that were using it, for ALL sessions, just like that, no way for any of these apps to do anything… How amateur is all of this from any SDK, but especially one from a company with as high of an engineering bar like Google…

At risk of this being engagement bait, them rejecting for such a non-issue is just grasping at straws as they wanted an excuse to reject the candidate especially since this is such an easy fix during training for an intern. Pretending otherwise is disingenuous.
Rejected because of the commit message😭

Funny that people (i.e. tech influencers on here) were shilling for RN as "the future" and used Shopify as evidence for longevity and now look. In the thread, people are now saying "Native is the future" despite arguing with us ad infinitum for all those years to the contrary.

Age-old lesson being: Never base your decisions on big tech choices no matter how attractive it is or how many tech "thought-leaders" push it. Use whatever works for your solution.

Engagement farming without mentioning your conflict of interest is wild. People who say things like this expose their stark ignorance of software.
In the not-too-distant future, you will not need to write or read code in order to become a software engineer.

Hard lesson to learn but a worthy one. Companies ALWAYS prioritize themselves over you. You should ALWAYS prioritize yourself over them. Loyalty to a company to the point of overtime often gets rewarded with more work, competing with coworkers, and layoffs. Put yourself first.

Honestly without question, Caitlin Clark is the apex of offensive generation in the WNBA bar none. 800 points & 300 assists? A very complete basketballer. The Messi of the WNBA. #WNBA #NBA

Writing code is how we think about the solutions we're building. Offloading 100% of that to a separate entity is a bad time waiting to happen.
Our job is to solve problems, not write code

All this and your shuffle algorithm still needs work. Tsk tsk.
