I really enjoyed handing over the leadership baton and introducing @ZackPolanski for his brilliant debut conference leader’s speech.
And just before I went on, this lovely video came up on the conference screens. It's so sweet - thank you everyone who had a role in making it 🫶

The silence on nature & climate during this election campaign is deadly. We’re a nation of nature lovers, yet our political leaders are driving its destruction. It doesn’t have to be this way. Nature doesn’t have a voice - you do. Use it to vote to #RestoreNatureNow #VoteGreen

We're extremely disappointed to hear @catdeeley on @ThisMorning making a joke of seizures. There are more than 100,000 children and young people who live with epilepsy in the UK. Seizures significantly impact their life - they are not something to be ridiculed or joked about.

It’s National HIV testing week 2024. You can get tested at a sexual health clinic or GP, but having one sent to do at home was super convenient and quick, with clear instructions. Go to startswithme.org.uk for a free test: it’s basic healthcare.

SILENCE OF THE LAMMY
David Lammy said “he wants change through power not through protest”. Now let’s let that sink in for a moment.
Change through power not through protest.
People and systems that long for, have or hold on to power have proven themselves time and time again to be corrupt, self serving and oppressive.
Protests, revolutions and uprisings have been the main routes for positive change against these oppressive systems.
Without them the majority of humanity would still be legally enslaved by the people and systems that crave power and control.
Final thought:
Without protests, revolutions and uprisings where would David Lammy be today?

The world is crazy. Football is often insane. But on occasion, managers can seem the last sensible humans. Here, Bayer Leverkusen's XABI ALONSO defends democracy & immigration. ❤️
It follows protests across Germany against a plot for mass deportations.
