De canetada die de Braziliaanse verkiezingen won
Terwijl de Nederlandse media braaf het sprookje van de 'herverkozen' socialist Lula toejuichen, is in Brazilië iets gebeurd dat in ieder normaal functionerend land de verkiezingen ongeldig zou maken.
Op 25 oktober, om 17:01 uur, greep opperrechter Cristiano Zanin in. Zanin is niet zomaar een rechter: hij was de advocaat van Lula, en inmiddels een goede vriend, en door Lula zelf op het Supremo Tribunal Federal geïnstalleerd. Hij verlengde met één pennenstreek de stembusgang met twee uur. Deze beslissing kwam binnen nadat de officiële sluitingstijd was verstreken. Daarmee veranderde Zanin op aangeven van Lula's coalitie de regels terwijl de wedstrijd feitelijk al uitgespeeld was. Flávio Bolsonaro noemde het terecht onmogelijk om zo’n uitslag te erkennen en kondigde aan de verkiezingen nietig te laten verklaren.
En nee, dit is geen detail. Dit is een rechter die buiten de kiesraad om, op verzoek van Lula, de spelregels herschrijft op het moment dat de tegenstander dreigt te winnen. De kiesraad zelf had die bevoegdheid niet. Zanin wel, kennelijk. Dat heet in Brazilië een 'canetada': een potloodstreep die de democratie even opzij schuift. Dat uitgerekend de oude advocaat van de zittende president en diens goede vriend dit doet, maakt het alleen maar kwalijker.
Maar maak u geen illusies, de Nederlandse pers zal dit ongetwijfeld afdoen als ‘complotdenken’ van Bolsonaro. Maar da's logisch, een socialistische kandidaat ging met de winst naar huis, de eindredacties zien de gewenste uitkomst en daarmee is alles gezegd. Men kijkt liever weg van een rechter die de verkiezingen bijstuurt op aangeven van Lula.
Dit is overigens geen Braziliaans probleem. Het is hetzelfde patroon dat we inmiddels overal zien, ook in Nederland: instituties die ooit de burger moesten beschermen worden ingezet om een bepaalde uitslag veilig te stellen. Links regeert niet meer via het volk, maar via de rechter. De kiezer mag stemmen, maar da's maar een formaliteit, want rechters en instituties bepalen uiteindelijk de koers die de politiek vaart.
Flávio Bolsonaro heeft gelijk dat hij dit niet accepteert. Een democratie die de regels tijdens de wedstrijd aanpast, is geen democratie meer. Het feit dat ook de Nederlandse pers hier geen vraagtekens bij zet geeft aan hoezeer zij ook al deel uitmaken van diezelfde instituties die de democratie afbreken, in plaats van hem te controleren, te bekritiseren en daarmee bij te sturen.

Les bureaux de vote ferment. Le dépouillement commence. Et là, un seul juge de la Cour suprême décide de prolonger le vote de deux heures, dans tout le pays. Le tribunal électoral suspend le comptage en urgence. Selon la presse brésilienne, ses propres membres étaient contre.
Résultat : pour la première fois depuis le retour de la démocratie au Brésil, le candidat battu au premier tour remporte le second.
Peut-être que tout est propre. Mais quand les règles d'un scrutin changent pendant le scrutin, sur décision d'un homme que personne n'a élu, la confiance meurt. Et une démocratie sans confiance n'est plus qu'un décor de théâtre.
Maintenant, regardez qui applaudit.

Ils ne se cachent même plus. L'autoritarisme, c'est un peuple qui vote mal. La démocratie, c'est un juge qui garde les urnes ouvertes jusqu'à ce que le résultat soit le bon.
Ils ont compris une chose : le réel est contre eux. L'immigration, l'insécurité, le déclassement, la dette. Le réel est trop fort, trop violent, et sur le terrain des idées, ils ne gagnent plus. Alors le combat se déplace : les tribunaux, les procédures, les horaires, les inéligibilités.
En France, on connaît déjà la musique. On a déjà vu des juges décider de qui a le droit de se présenter.
Le Brésil n'est pas une exception. C'est un prototype. Il y a de fortes chances que ce scénario se rejoue partout en Occident, dans chaque pays où ils n'ont pas encore perdu.
Alors préparez-vous. Pas seulement à faire campagne : à protéger le scrutin. Des assesseurs dans chaque bureau. Des avocats prêts le soir même. Chaque règle connue par cœur. Chaque procès-verbal photographié.
Gagner ne suffira pas. Il faudra gagner avec une marge qu'aucun juge ne pourra effacer, et surveiller chaque urne jusqu'au dernier bulletin.
Le réel est de notre côté. Encore faut-il qu'on nous laisse le compter.

Le Brésil vient de le montrer en direct.
La France le pratique depuis des décennies, plus discrètement.
Le suffrage universel n’a de sens que si le dernier mot appartient aux élus, pas à un réseau de magistrats irrévocables qui interprètent les règles selon leurs intérêts.
Sans destitution réelle des juges politiques, les élections restent un théâtre.
Le cartel reste en place.

Flashback to the critically important Trump v. Slaughter ruling at the Supreme Court on June 29, 2026. This ruling gave POTUS massive control over two dozen independent regulatory agencies, to include the Elections Assistance Commission (EAC).
Trump purged the EAC in July, just days after Supreme Court ruled 6-3 that he had the authority to unilaterally fire EAC commissioners, and all four seats still remain vacant. Trump purged the heads of the agency and never appointed anyone to replace them. The EAC is effectively in a state of limbo, and Trump said he’s allowed to leave the seats vacant, and that the agency will be totally aligned with their election priorities.
Since then, Trump has signed EO’s and taken measures to combat illegals registering for mail-in ballots, cleaning up voter rolls, prioritized DOJ maintenance and non-citizen voting laws, and more.
The DOJ have also been demanding and suing for unredacted voter registration lists, and have been instructed to increase enforcement of non-citizen voting. The DOJ have it clear they are no longer allowing voter fraud to slide.
Trump has been doing everything he can to secure the election without the help of the Senate GOP and the SAVE America Act. Will it be enough? We shall see, but based on how the Dems are behaving, I think Trump has done enough, and I think both sides know it.
Prepare for the Dems to start crying about the EAC and the Supreme Court Trump v. Slaughter ruling back in June, because it’s coming.

It turns out that the funds were turned over to an NGO.
Instead of helping the homeless, the funds were used for a mansion in LA, a home in Greece, and a $125,000 vehicle.
