We’ve got a wonderful problem in Holland, Michigan. @AbdulElSayed is coming to sit down with @jorgeramosnews and @paoramos, my wife organized the event, and now we’re trying to figure out how to make room for everyone who wants to join the conversation.
The funny part? It’s a nonpartisan interview, not a political rally. The challenge isn’t generating excitement. It’s figuring out how to contain it. What a beautiful problem for a community to have.
Jorge, Paola, Abdul — welcome to Holland! A remarkable American city on the shores of Lake Michigan, with a lot of curiosity, plenty of opinions, and an enormous appetite for conversation.
The Great Lakes are pretty spectacular, too, mind you.
What a wonderful time to call Holland home.
Nos vemos el domingo en Holland, Michigan.
@paoramos Paola y yo vamos a entrevistar al candidato Abdul El-Sayed. ¿Què le
preguntarías?

We’re not criminals. We’re hardworking people.”
He said it standing in a Nevada Democrats room — black cowboy hat, blue shirt, hand cutting the air. Six years supporting the party. Fed up with kids left orphaned and a MAGA government that, in his words, came to destroy Latino communities.
Then: “Nosotros no somos delincuentes criminales. Nosotros somos gente trabajadora.”
¡Que viva la democracia de Estados Unidos!
Nov 3 is the last day to vote.

Ana Navarro: “I’m never gonna be a sellout to the Latino community. I am never ever ever going to legitimize a man who is targeting my community and inflicting suffering on Black and brown people. I have been in this country through 7 different presidents from Carter to Trump. I would have gone and sat down with every single one of them except Trump. I am in no way ever going to sit down with the man and treat him as if he was normal. What he’s doing to America is not normal”
For my California friends: if you see “Democrats for Mike Rogers” circulating on X, there’s something worth knowing about Michigan politics.
The super PAC using that name had to rebrand as Together for Michigan. Its two largest disclosed contributions came from Republican-aligned PACs: $50,000 and $25,000.
Sure, some Democrats support Mike Rogers. But there’s a difference between Democrats crossing party lines and Republican money financing the appearance of a Democratic movement.
Follow the money. Not the label.
dude’s almost a democrat now. michigan politics are insane. but don’t trust the words. he still has a master and commander to report to.
Mike Rogers says Iran was 18 months away from a nuclear bomb in 2014. But look what happened next. @BarackObama negotiated a nuclear deal that inspectors verified.
Iran removed 98% of its enriched uranium stockpile, dismantled two-thirds of its centrifuges, and pushed its nuclear breakout time to at least a year.
Trump withdrew from that agreement in 2018. Iran subsequently accelerated enrichment. Now, twelve years after Rogers’ warning, we’re at war.
Think about that.
Diplomacy produced measurable results. The agreement was abandoned. The danger escalated. And Mikey here is still reaching back to 2014 to justify what’s happening today.

I’m still on this:
Michigan’s next great invention might not be a product. It might be a government that no longer depends on the companies it helped create.
@JocelynBenson @AbdulElSayedHQ
@garlin are key to make this happen.
The companies are here. Let them thrive.
But imagine a Michigan where corporate influence is visible, public investments are measured by what communities actually gain, and lawmakers are free to imagine an economy beyond the interests of their largest donors. We’re already seeing the beginnings of that conversation in Lansing. The question is how far it can go.
Imagine what happens next. New industries emerging without asking established companies for permission. Independent businesses competing for talent and capital.
Universities turning discoveries into enterprises.
Communities shaping how AI, energy, housing, and technology transform their lives. Great corporations remain part of the story, but they no longer define its limits.
Michigan doesn’t need to become less corporate to become more innovative. It needs to become more independent.
We built extraordinary companies here.
Imagine what we could build if our political imagination were just as ambitious.
