Here's how we did the desert island shot in Strawberry Mansion: I made a lil clay island, glued some sand to it and a small plastic tree, stuck it on a cork board, and then filmed it against a real sunset. Last shot is how it appears in the movie 🌴

😭 Thank you for saying this. I've spent most of my career ashamed of the fact that I am a maximalist filmmaker (connected to my, until recently, undiagnosed ADHD). I admired and envied the minimalist masters (like kogonada) but knew I could never have the confidence to do it.🧵
