reminds me a bit of this article I found in one of my recent Democratic German Report scans, by a GDR double agent who infiltrated the CIA in West Berlin partly by beating a polygraph test, which he noted that the Americans were obsessed with and seemed to think of as infallible

This is so goddamn funny that I’m surprised it’s not been more widely publicized lol In 1952 the CIA introduced the polygraph to West Germanys intelligence service and *accidentally* discovered that their counterespionage chief of Czech operations was actually a double agent
