Before the pandemic, there was 1 person worth $100 billion. Now there are 10.
Before the pandemic, those 10 people were worth $650 billion. Now they are worth $1.4 trillion.
And the Senate is ready to shut down the government and deny vital services to avoid taxing them at all.
THIS. I hate every time we have a drill, and it's so sad that the kids feel like it's normal now.

In opera, you get the added benefit of also paying to (sometimes) have the privilege of being ignored 😂
This is such a kind policy to implement:
Gave a much older man a business card at a gig 4 years ago (he was in the choir & requested one to contact for a possible upcoming job), & now he calls every 6-12 months to ask me on a date. A PSA: this is NOT an acceptable use of a business card. (Yes, he called today.)

If we learn anything from this wretched pandemic, it's that:
1) Workers are always essential.
2) Healthcare is a basic right.
3) Conspiracy theories can be deadly.
4) The stock market isn't the economy.
5) Wages are too low to get by on.
6) Billionaires aren't the answer.

I dunno if "after every mass shooting" should just roll off the tongue like this as if it's an inconvenience to you?
Replying to @atrupar
An angry Ted Cruz says "what happens in this committee after every mass shooting is Democrats propose taking away guns from law abiding citizens."

I don't know who needs to hear this, but your choice to give up the last eleven or so months of your regular life, being careful and socially distancing, could very well be the reason somebody else is alive today - and it will *always* have been worth it.

What I have found interesting whilst in lockdown is the promotion of all the subjects that in school get the least appreciation; Art, Music, Sport. If they are all essential for keeping us sane in lockdown why aren’t they just as essential when it comes to funding?
Meanwhile, I'm not a district employee, just allowed in to teach (with background check), so if I push back too hard, I assume there is a possibility of losing my visitor privileges.
This, but with singing. And also any kind of creative work, I'd imagine. Nice to read and ponder this today, and step back to look at the bigger picture.

I really wish this car dealership waiting room had yoga mats to use instead of pretzels to eat. I'm antsy today and one of these would help more than the other...

Gmorning
To the altos and the baritones in choir
To the viola players and trombonists in the band
Your melody is not the one
the world sings
But it’s so much more f***ing interesting &
The song falls apart without you
I am on day 4 of pumpkin candles, and I have no regrets. Not quite ready to entirely let summer go, but I do love this slide into fall evenings.

For the aspiring professional, there’s an inherent, counterintuitive tension - and yet a profound truth - between the terrible advice of “Oh, you’ve got plenty of time”, and the necessary advice “Don’t rush.”
So, can we all agree that it is generally uncool to drop off a packet of vocal information and exercises for someone else's student, at the studio where that student studies?
Had to cancel a masterclass sing tomorrow because of the Cough That Will Never Leave, and instead of accepting that my body needs to rest, I find myself trying to fill the last minute free time with other obligations. Friends, what are ways you convince yourself to rest?
Excited for a new project in the horizon! Catch me with the Milwaukee Ballet next month (yes, the ballet) singing Mendelssohn's A Midsummer Night's Dream.
