There is something about this time of year that invites us to pause. As the weather cools, and Thanksgiving, Advent and Christmas approach, our attention naturally turns toward gratitude: for the people who have shaped our lives, the communities that sustain us, and the blessings we sometimes take for granted. It is also a season when we think more intentionally about generosity and what we can share with others. The season invites us to consider the communities that matter to us and the role each of us plays in helping them thrive. Our parishes are among those communities: places where we gather, relationships grow, people find opportunities to serve, and neighbors receive care and support. Generosity helps make that possible, sustaining the ministries and people who bring the mission of our parishes to life. That generosity takes many forms. We see it in the parishioner who volunteers each week, the family that participates in parish life, the person who reaches out to a neighbor in need, and the donor whose support helps sustain ministries that serve others. Each, in a different way, strengthens the community and helps carry its mission forward. Intentional giving also gives us an opportunity to reflect on what matters to us and what we want to help sustain. We can see its impact in the ministries that bring people together, the outreach that cares for our neighbors, and the relationships that create a sense of belonging and community. How we respond will look different for each of us. It may mean renewing a financial commitment, sharing our time to enliven a ministry, reaching out to someone who needs help, or finding another way to become more involved. Each choice, large or small, becomes part of something greater and helps strengthen the mission we share. Over the coming weeks, our Season of Giving series will share stories of generosity at work in our parishes and communities. We’ll visit parishes where volunteers provide food for neighbors in need and shelter to those without housing. We’ll also demonstrate how campus ministry creates a welcoming community for college students who are away from home, giving them a place to connect, build relationships, and find a sense of belonging. In each of these places, generous spirits do more than meet a need. They create opportunities for lives and communities to be transformed for the better. A season of giving is ultimately about more than a season. It is an opportunity to give thanks for the parish communities, ministries, and school life that enrich our lives, and to consider how our own gifts of time, talent and treasure can help them thrive and serve others best.

Nearly eight months after Pope Leo XIV appointed him apostolic nuncio to the United States, Archbishop Gabriele Caccia visited Baltimore Oct. 25, offering a reminder of the Holy See’s close ties to the nation’s oldest Catholic see. Celebrating morning Mass at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Vatican diplomat urged Catholics to bear witness to their faith not only through words but through acts of love and service, especially toward those who are vulnerable, lonely or in need. catholicreview.org/papal-nun…

⛪ A special morning of faith and fellowship at America’s First Cathedral. This morning, we gathered at the historic Basilica of the National Shrine of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary for the celebration of the Nuncio Mass. In this sacred place, where generations have gathered in prayer, we give thanks for the gift of our Catholic faith and for the unity of the universal Church. May this celebration strengthen us in our mission to proclaim the Gospel and serve Christ with renewed faith, hope, and love. 💙

Every human life is a sacred gift from God. ❤️ The Archdiocese of Baltimore’s Life Is Beautiful Mass celebrated the dignity of life by honoring Msgr. James Farmer for his decades of pro-life ministry and Dr. Gianna Emanuela Molla, daughter of St. Gianna Beretta Molla, whose family bears powerful witness to the sanctity of life and the enduring love of family. May their example inspire us to build a culture that cherishes and protects every human life. Read more: catholicreview.org/life-is-b…
