Effective local governance starts with a shared vision and a clear plan to turn community priorities into responsive services and inclusive development.
The Gambia Association of Local Government Authorities (GALGA) convened stakeholders to validate its Strategic Plan 2027โ2031. Under GALGAโs leadership, representatives from The Gambiaโs local councils unanimously endorsed the plan, establishing a shared direction for the next five years.
Developed through stakeholder consultations with support from the EUโUNDP GREAT Project, the plan provides a roadmap to strengthen GALGAโs support to all eight local government authorities through institutional development, effective policy advocacy, stronger partnerships and sustainable financing.
Gender equality, the meaningful participation of women, youth and persons with disabilities, and climate resilience are central to its vision of accountable, inclusive and people-centred local governance.
With the support of @EUinTheGambia, @UNDP_TheGambia is partnering with @GALGAGambia to advance inclusive local governance, responsive service delivery and meaningful community participation across The Gambia.
