Where @OpIndia_com cites evidence from my book to debunk Habib’s non-historical, non-archaeological arguments. Let’s repeat: Irfan Habib is not an archaeologist. According to Prof. N.C. Ghosh who was a dean of social sciences of Vishwabharti university and veteran archaeologist, Habib has very little knowledge of archaeology. Page 510 of my book.
The Print platforms Marxist historian Irfan Habib to distort the history of Ram Mandir. Read how he opposed the ASI excavation and questioned the archaeological evidence. @Sagarshriti1 reports. opindia.com/2026/11/the-prin…

Irfan Habib wrote an article in HT before the excavation started. He argued that the ASI should not go deeper than 2 metres because the dispute pertains to medieval India and any depth more than that would yield material culture of the ancient India and a brick of the Kushan period could be used as a evidence of a Hindu structure. The Muslim side took the cue and pleaded with the HC to prescribe a 2-metre depth limit to the ASI. The court asked the ASI to reply. The agency argued that limiting the depth would be against the principles of archaeology. It would be an incomplete and meaningless exercise. A couple of months before, Habib had admitted of a structure beneath the earth but called it ‘a residential quarter for marginalised sections.’ All his roguery has been unmasked in my book India’s Rogue Historians. Here is the link. amzn.in/d/073fAHRv
Supreme Court’s Babri Masjid verdict was “totally illegitimate” from a historian's point of view, says historian Irfan Habib in a conversation with @dksingh73 and @MandhaniApoorva.

Review of my book India’s Rogue Historians in @LoksattaLive The reviewer accuses that I have bunched all anti-Ram temple historians into a single group as Marxist historians. He reviews the book not to ‘review’ but to criticise. Good try, I needed it after some praise. 😊

MLC elections in 28 seats across 4 big states - Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Bihar and Karnataka. Elections held using ballot papers. Guess how many seats Congress won? 🧐

Listening or reading Romila Thapar is always a delight. In her lecture from the CPI(M) podium she launches attack on Hindutva historiography within three minutes of her speech. My delight is to see how she is coping up the callous distortion she and her ilk spread in history with the help of establishment. The Habibs and the Thapars must live long to see their citadel collapsing.

No. However the message is inconvenient don’t go after the messenger. Deal with her arguments, expose it but don’t make her martyr.
She needs to be investigated by NIA Most Urgently

The decline of Con is not owing to lack of funds or enthusiasm. It is this 👇🏾 the clueless man strutting around with two lefties. These loony lefties have started their political parties and took them to doom. You don’t put your money in ruined business.

A good write up on Romila Thapar’s hallucination. We need to disrobe her of her eminence. She has not written anything new in last three decades and regurgitating Hindutva, historiography, colonial, nationalist history etc.

Doesn’t he ever get tired of hawking the same end-is-nigh kind of stuff? He was in the mind of Bahadurshah Zafar when he said ना ख़ुदा ही मिला ना विशाले सनम ना इधर के हुए ना उधर के.
WHY RAHUL GANDHI, ABHIJEET DIPKE AND NEHA BORA SHOULD BE SMILING THIS MORNING? THERE IS HOPE! IS IT ENDGAME FOR THE RIGHTWING? SERBIA’S STUDENTS HAVE SHOWN THE WORLD HOW TO DEFEAT AUTHORITARIANISM! BRAZIL HAS FOLLOWED BY DEFEATING SOMEONE WHO WOULD HAVE BEEN DONALD TRUMP’S PUPPET (THERE ARE MANY AS WE ALL KNOW). Populist demagogues all over the world who have ruled ruthlessly over years must be in panic. Is it endgame? What a way to start a Monday morning ( IST). What an extraordinary moment for democracy! In Serbia, a fearless student-led movement has defeated Aleksandar Vučić after nearly two years of protests against corruption, violence and authoritarianism. Young people took to the streets, mobilised a nation and converted public anger into electoral victory. 100% democratically achieved success. Students didn’t just protest. They changed history. Meanwhile, in Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva has defeated Flávio Bolsonaro, denying Donald Trump another ideological ally in Latin America. Most thought he had no chance after he lost the first round of votes. Two countries. Two powerful democratic verdicts. One unmistakable lesson: political power is never permanent. I have been saying this for long: Don’t fall for the braggadocio on “ We will rule for 50 years etc” from BJP’s Chanakya. It is utter nonsense emerging from vulgar arrogance. Liberal democracy desperately needs this resurgence. Across the world, independent institutions face pressure, dissent is throttled, minorities are targeted and political strongmen increasingly behave as though the Constitution is their personal toilet-roll. Divisiveness has been weaponized, and the critics demonized. It is precisely why India’s Gen Z are on the streets as well; To protect a flailing democracy gone sideways. But let us not get carried away. Having been in the opposition for long, I am circumspect although prodigiously sanguine. The challenges remain. Benjamin Netanyahu’s political future in Israel and Marine Le Pen’s movement in France, which is experiencing a violent turmoil, deserve close attention. They could still win, and we know what the repercussions of their exclusionary politics could be. The silver lining could still be Donald Trump’s likely annihilation in American midterms. A Republican defeat which is being forecasted by most political pundits could dramatically change the global political conversation. But stranger things have happened in America. Remember, the world’s richest man with enormous media clout is funding the Trump campaign. Propaganda is the far-right’s go-to-brainwashing detergent. But for now this morning, from Belgrade to Brasília, the message is electrifying: Fear can be defeated. Young people can change history. The opposition can overcome the institutional capture. Democracy can fight back. The future belongs to citizens, not strongmen. Has the democratic awakening begun? Have a great week ahead. @INCIndia @RahulGandhi @Jairam_Ramesh @Cockroachisback @neha_aisa

Thapar is anything but what she preaches. All her highfalutin ideas crashes down with no sparkle. By the way in Namit Arora book she does not commit herself to Marxism but insist she used Marxian methods to assess history. Like she does from the podium of CPM but maintains she is independent historian.
History must illuminate minds, not imprison them in ideological prejudices. Madam #RomilaThapar reminds us the past demands critical inquiry, not convenient narratives. When evidence yields to political or religious agendas, history risks becoming propaganda rather than a pursuit of truth. thehindu.com/news/national/h…

Nasiruddin Shah is just a good actor. Not a great actor. He is frustrated long back that people never elevated him to the level of Dilip Kumar, Motilal or Ashok Kumar. He is not even to the level of Amitabh Bachchan who could easily traversed serious drama, comedic, action and sing & dance. His kids have also failed him. He takes it out his anger and angst to the world. Now he is outperforming a worst troll.

दिलजलों का दिल जला के क्या मिलेगा मोदीजी. IAF air displays have taken place at many places. When PM does it for his constituency, these two are frothing at mouth. One is sure Modi is about to fade away but the other is not so ‘sure.’

Ref: Sharjil Imam's Islamic formulation; here is Purushottam Trikamdas, once secretary to Gandhi and a prominent Socialist leader: ‘There is also the question of guarding against a possible fifth column in this country. A large body of Muslims in India had supported partition, and there is no reason to believe that they have changed their opinions overnight. Adequate safeguards will have to be taken that none who had taken any active share in the demand for partition and none of those who still may be drawn to Pakistan because of their religious sympathies should be in any position where they can act as fifth columnists.’ From pragmatic Patel to Gandhian Vinoba to utopian socialists - all felt the same about Muslims who chose not to go to Pakistan after asking for it.

Three people who played foundational role in the Ram Janmabhoomi movement are Swami Chinmayanand, Moropant Pingley and Ashok Singhal. Last year I help edit the biography of Pingley, the first in English. But we don’t have a good English biographies on Swami Chinmayanand and Ashok Singhal. Sadly our scholarship is lacking here.
