✨thread of my stories✨ “a name is a plea and a prophecy” (in @strangehorizons) is (something close to) a folk-tale about a woman seeking death, her sacrifices to a god she hates, and the dangers of forgetting your name 🌴☠️🌊✨ strangehorizons.com/fiction/…

A Name is a Plea and a Prophecy

Kuyom stood at Death’s door, shuffling from one foot to the other.

do you guys ever get so tired of a story you’re writing (especially a long-form project) that reading it or trying to edit makes you literally want to throw up?

nigerian spec fic writers need to do this as well 🙏🏾

I have been saying this for some time now: Nigerian realist writers from minoritized ethnicities need to write more fiction about their peoples, cultures, histories, homelands, their present. Lived-in fiction. And set it in your homeland, not Lagos. opencountrymag.com/afabwaje-…

Afabwaje Kurian Tells a Gbagyi Story : Open Country Mag

How Afabwaje Kurian, with Before the Mango Ripens, opened an untold chapter in the story of the Gbagyi, an ethnic minority in Nigeria.
