Labels can impact politics. My paper

"What Happens When You Can't Check the Box?" shows when Middle Eastern & North African (MENA) Americans are excluded from identity categories, they assert MENA identity on relevant political questions. doi.org/10.1017/S00030554251…

Yesterday @MidwayAirport A woman was changing her older son. She had to ask for trash bags to lay him on the floor of the bathroom to do so because there are no bathrooms with adult changing stations.
No one should have to get changed on the bathroom floor.
@WithAmericans
@fly2ohare only has one in the whole airport despite having 4 active terminals.

Thrilled to share our paper on Sustainable Remote Workplaces (with @BeataJechorek , @asdurso & @ChloeThurstonDC ) is forthcoming in JSIS.
We show employees evaluate remote work as bundles of trade-offs: flexibility, pay, monitoring, & costs are considered jointly

ICYMI my article on MENA identity.
When MENA Americans aren’t given a “MENA” option on forms, they answer identity-related questions on politics more strongly (eg higher end of the scale) than if“MENA” had been added.
Having the group label or not changes the average response!

Survey researchers, have you thought about the political consequences of miscategorizing respondents' identities?
Raymundo Lopez (ABD, raymundolopez.com/index.html) has written a wonderful summary of my APSR on PS Now (@APSAtweets).

Omg new JAWS I love 😍
As identities become more visible and politically salient, addressing the consequences of category exclusion is essential, both for the integrity of social science and for democratic inclusion.
