According to Martha, the original pitch by producer Mark Burnett was for her to "fire" Trump on-air in the first episode. But Trump refused to step down. (Sound familiar?) Both shows aired concurrently. Stewart's version struggled with ratings and was canceled after one season, which she publicly attributed to NBC and Trump keeping his show on the air. Trump hit back with public letters and interviews demanding SHE take “responsibility” for the show's “failure.” And the two have publicly hated eachother ever since! Martha supported Hillary Clinton during the 2016 election. In the 2024 presidential race, she firmly endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris, saying she wanted a leader who "doesn't hate democracy.” She’s also made a habit of cracking jokes about Trump, like feigning ignorance or saying "too bad!" when discussing his defunct branded steaks on the air 😂
