Standing in queue for the last 45 minutes to enter the venue where talks are happening for ESTIC-26, India's massive Science and Innovation Conclave. My mistake was to come out for coffee. Everyone being frisked. I had gone through this once while coming in at 9 though. Thrilled.

In terms of the sheer joy this guy gave me this year, and the drama he caused in the last two world cups, affecting my daily living during the months when the tournaments were played - I think that from my experiences - I will agree with this.

Lovely books in the stall they wanted to demolish. Bought several actually. And none were directly political.
We went to get some books from the @CPIM_WESTBENGAL stall at Jadavpur today. Bengalis love books, we don't accept bulldozing of book stalls. It was good to see many with a similar mindset at the red stalls. @ayanban7
More than fifteen Pujo venues all over Kolkata are closed off! Why???! What has a stampede at Chorbagan have to do with the closure of pandals at the opposite end of the city? Is this an admission of the clear lack of preparation of the Kolkata authorities for Pujo this year?!
In the 116 years of large scale Durga Pujo in Kolkata, this is the FIRST time ever that a disaster like this has happened. Feel rather numb. I too have always been there with the teeming millions - NEVER has there been a stampede situation. Something changed this time. Intent?

This is so very understandable! Even in our far lower-stakes journey, right from my PhD - have recieved rejections from the 'big' journals for ridiculously flimsy reasons. The latest was a referee opine 'I just don't think this is good enough for this journal'! And so a reject!
