44 days to COP31. The room is waiting. The question is: will you be in it?
Join the movement. Raise your voice. Bring your community, your ideas, your demands and let’s make sure Africa’s youth are not just part of the conversation, but actively shaping what comes next.
When the drums of Kilimanjaro beat, the world listens or learns to. 44 days to COP31, and Africa isn't asking for a translator. The Africa Youth Mobilization 4 COP (AYM4COP) is mobilizing young people to bring their own microphones in these rooms. #AYM4COP

The countdown to COP31 is on but climate action doesn’t start in Antalya. It starts right where you are, in Africa, and with the choices you make today.
From Africa to the world, AYM4COP is mobilising young people to turn voices into action.
The road to COP31 starts with us.

This week, I am taking part in the London Climate Action Week, and yesterday, I had the privilege of being invited to speak at the Carbon Management and Climate Action Roundtable convened by the Global CCS Institute and Imperial College London.
The discussion brought together diverse stakeholders to explore the role of carbon management generally, and carbon capture and storage (CCS) in particular, within broader climate action and industrial decarbonisation efforts.
During my intervention, I emphasised four key considerations that must shape the future of CCS:
📌 We must mobilise adequate and accessible finance for CCS technologies where they can contribute to genuine decarbonisation efforts.
📌 We must guard against the risk of mitigation deterrence—where reliance on future carbon removal undermines the urgency of reducing emissions at source today.
📌 We must reject the use of CCS as a vehicle for Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR), where carbon capture is deployed to facilitate additional fossil fuel extraction, potentially undermining climate objectives.
📌 Above all, environmental and social justice must remain at the centre of CCS governance, ensuring that communities, ecosystems, and future generations are not asked to bear disproportionate risks.
These reflections build upon my ongoing research and upcoming publication, "A Shield or Double-Edged Sword? Environmental and Social Justice Implications of Offshore Carbon Capture and Storage", which I previously presented at the CCS at Sea Conference hosted by Lund University earlier this year.
As the world seeks pathways to achieve net-zero emissions, the question is not simply whether CCS has a role to play, but under what conditions it can contribute to climate action in a manner that is equitable, accountable, and consistent with sustainable development.
I am grateful to Navraj Ghaleigh, whose pedagogical influence sparked my interest in the Law of Carbon Management, and the Global CCS Institute and Imperial College London for creating space for this important dialogue.

I am deeply humbled to have been entrusted with the privilege of representing Uganda at the upcoming European Union Visitors’ Programme (EUVP), commencing next week in Brussels.
The EUVP stands as a flagship initiative of the European Union’s public, people-to-people diplomacy, strengthening its global engagement, outreach, and influence. It plays a vital role in fostering meaningful connections between emerging leaders and their European counterparts, with a view to building lasting partnerships and sustained impact.
I am sincerely grateful to H.E. @JanSadek and the @EUinUG for this vote of confidence. I look forward to the insightful engagements ahead, and to the deepening of the EU-Uganda development cooperation as we celebrate our golden jubilee this year. #TeamEurope

Today, I had the privilege of engaging in a meaningful dialogue on the intersection of climate change and peacebuilding in the Rwenzori Sub-region, at the invitation of Prospect Initiative.
One thing stood out clearly: the policies are there on paper, but the real challenge is implementation. What young people need now are resources, support, and trust to turn these frameworks into action.
In my submission, I reflected on how climate action is still being treated as purely environmental yet in regions like Rwenzori, it is deeply tied to security, conflict, and even violent extremism. Ignoring these linkages risks leaving communities more vulnerable.
If we are serious about climate solutions, we must move beyond policy conversations and invest in youth-led, peace-centered approaches that address the realities on the ground.
