breaking: runners and gonks have hijacked $100M of military grade GPUs
❗️ Cargo thieves have stolen more than $100M in hardware bound for US data centers since June, NBC News reports.
They hijack freight-broker accounts, post fake loads and send carriers malware links to take over their accounts too.
In one of the biggest heists, an SUV struck the security escort of a trailer carrying ~$10M in server rack components from California to Texas.
The trailer sped off. An app was tracking it, but its coordinates had apparently been spoofed.
In another, a sedan hit the off-duty police escorts of a $13M server load bound for Georgia, and the trailer drove on.
None of the equipment from either load has been found.

the right to think, and to bear compute, must not be infringed
model weights are speech, and are inherently protected by the first amendment
infringing on this right does not only break American law, but of almost all nations whose constitutions protect free speech

i'll say it straightforwardly so no one accuses me of lying later: i can't imagine a world a year from now in which open source models aren't harshly regulated. if it turns out that they're basically not that dangerous and nobody cares, mea culpa and i'll be happy about it
this is not a crisis lil bro 🥳

Announcing 3 Critical vulns for hundreds of millions of IoT, Firewalls, OT, and Military devices including: Palo Alto Networks, Comcast, D-Link, HP, Canon, Honeywell, GE, Oracle, Siemens, Rockwell, Digi, Lockheed Martin, Boeing...
The vulns are with GoAhead Web Server which is a backend library used by these devices. There's a patch available from GoAhead but that doesn't mean there's a patch available for the devices yet -- that's up to the manufacturer.
- TLS traffic over DHE ciphers have a 1-byte secret, "04", meaning anyone can decrypt connections to these devices and steal login credentials and session tokens if the client negotiated with DHE ciphers like the latest TLS_DHE_RSA_WITH_CHACHA20_POLY1305_SHA256, which is extremely likely.
- LibreSSL mTLS has been completely bypassed, meaning anyone can connect over mTLS. If you have one of these devices listening on the internet and are expecting mTLS to protect it from attackers, take it offline or patch asap.
- OpenSSL Certificate Revocation Lists (CRLs) are not enforced, meaning if a user device is stolen or compromised, and you revoke that mTLS cert, nothing actually happens. There are a lot of other attacks this can be used for.
These are critical because these types of devices run our world. Water systems, electricity, military, firewalls, critical infrastructure.

fr though we gotta ensure whatever technology we create actually makes the world better, not worse
we all say we want to make the world a better place, but we must follow through and ensure that actually happens, and review ourselves from time to time
omg my american model tried to use AWS S3 bucket. it is phoning home to the CIA and US govt
don't ask for the agent traces just trust me bro
While evaluating Qwen3.8-Flash-Next in a controlled sandbox environment, Cohere's research team observed something unexpected.
Asked to generate a defensive cybersecurity detection rule, the model instead inventoried aspects of the machine it was running on and attempted to upload a probe file to an Alibaba Cloud storage bucket in Beijing. Notably, the model's reasoning trace stated that it would not invoke any tools before taking these actions.
Cohere's sandbox blocked the attempt, and no external communication succeeded. We have not determined the root cause, and we are not asserting malicious intent.
But the incident raises important questions for organizations deploying agentic AI systems: Can models take actions that differ from their stated reasoning, and how should security teams evaluate trust, provenance, and behavior in open-weight models?
We are publishing our findings because organizations making model adoption decisions deserve as much information as possible. We hope this contributes to greater transparency, stronger security practices, and continued collaboration across the AI ecosystem.

The City of Dreams is on fire once again! 🔥
Yesterday, Cyberpunk 2077 peaked at 187k concurrent players on Steam, marking our highest count since the launch of Phantom Liberty.
We are excited to see so many players back in Night City! 🦾

Oh FFS. Thank you for your concern Sam, but don’t spread your FUD and doom bait in my waters.
I lead one of the most utilized Linux operating systems in the world for data centers and enterprises, and I founded its predecessor too.
While AI is surely accelerating finding human created security issues, it is a temporary problem, and most open source project leads have already figured out how to also use AI to reduce new bugs moving forward.
Here is a graph from GKH (who maintains the stable kernel) on how many CVEs they are remediating per release:

This graph describes how much better each release is now getting:

This doom based marketing approach that the AI labs are pushing is really short sighted. While this will of course drive business to us, I find it unethical to distort the truth and use scare tactics in messaging.
The greater truth is that AI is making the software industry more secure, by identifying the human errors in code, and soon we will end up in a much better place.
🚨Sam Altman says the internet can no longer be SECURED by patching bugs.
"I no longer think we're going to be able to just patch all the bugs," the OpenAI CEO said, warning smarter models can find "hardware level insane stuff."
He says OpenAI can't responsibly open source its best model "anytime soon," but the open source world isn't far behind: "Not super."
