$100 of bitcoin on their phone to track its purchasing power beats the 45-minute monologue at Thanksgiving dinner

Franklin Templeton just found a way to get bitcoin to people who'd never in their wildest dream would buy it. Two ETFs registered on Nasdaq this week offering 95% big US stonks + 5% bitcoin. Every dividend the stocks pay buys more BTC. Boomers were always going to own bitcoin through an ETF without touching it. Now they don't even have to actively press buy because reinvesting dividends is a habit they've trusted their whole lives. That's how you sell anything new: Offer it with something people already like and let it ride. Honestly genius.

Bitcoin is the most measured money EVER. It gets a new price every second (including saturdays) But what a dollar buys gets measured once a month. So a bad Saturday for BTC makes headlines while the USD buying a little less every month gets ignored.

Do everything in your power to become post-economic. Get into crippling debt if you have to.

Marc Andreessen's 2014 NYT oped, Why Bitcoin Matters. If you haven't read it, suggest reading it. It's still important to this day.

Still thinking about this, and will for a long time.
The problem of our time is not merely information overload. It is that the time required to construct a coherent understanding of reality is becoming longer than the time during which that understanding remains valid.

Boris trusts the system that made him prime minister. Can't really blame him, it's been very good to him
Bitcoin is up 20% since Boris Johnson called it a “giant Ponzi scheme” in March 2026.

The Fed didn't announce its rate decisions until 1994. Before that you had to work it out from what they did in the markets. In 2011 they started doing press conferences, streamed live. Bitcoin was two years old. Now they get clipped and debated over on X before they're even announcing anything. I think this type of authority only works best at a distance. The minute people start arguing with it, ending up in replies, the authoritative position starts wearing down.

One thing I'm trying to improve every day is my ability to make sense of my changing reality. When everything changes it's hard to shift PoV because it is in our nature to try to see the world as we feel it _should_ be.

Germany's savings banks started selling bitcoin in their app on Monday. €0.99 a trade. In January 2025 the head of the Bundesbank called it digital tulips. THEY BENT THE KNEE 🇩🇪

That’s not something bitcoin does for you though, it’s entirely possible to use it as MoE.
