Tate has repeatedly spewed false and harmful rhetoric that has endangered Muslim communities in the West, mirroring the narratives of figures like Tommy Robinson, whose propaganda directly fueled violence against Muslims. His reckless statements contribute to the very Islamophobia he claims to oppose. Recently, he spread blatant lies about what happened in Germany, adding to a history of misinformation that harms Muslims globally. Beyond that, his statements of disbelief, innovation, and open promotion of major sins make it clear: he does not deserve sympathy from Muslims until he rectifies his harm. As for what is in the heart, then only Allah knows this. But as ʿUmar said, “Now that revelation has ceased, we judge by what is apparent.” What is apparent is his repeated harm to Muslims. Justice isn’t selective. If someone fuels anti-Muslim sentiment, spreads lies, and openly contradicts core Islamic principles, their claims of persecution don’t erase the damage they’ve done. Tell that to our mothers, our aunties, our sisters, our daughters, and our cousins, who have been attacked, insulted, and abused because of his rhetoric. Accountability comes before sympathy.
