why does decentralization matter when we're talking about making a network faster? wouldn't it be easier to have one central system coordinating everything? that's a reasonable thought. but there's a scaling problem hidden inside that approach. MIT Professor and @get_optimum co-founder Muriel Médard discusses this in her interview with @cryptosmiff. and the reasoning goes beyond ideology. ──────────────────────── imagine managing a network with 10 participants. a central controller might be able to collect information from everyone, understand what's happening, and decide where data should go. now imagine that network has thousands of participants spread across the world. the controller needs to keep track of a much larger system, with more connections, more traffic, and constantly changing conditions. the coordination task grows with the network. ──────────────────────── there's another problem: information becomes outdated. for a central controller to make good decisions, it needs an accurate picture of the network. but collecting that information takes time and consumes network resources. by the time the information reaches the controller and a decision is sent back, conditions may already have changed. the system spends more resources coordinating itself, while its decisions become less useful. ──────────────────────── this creates a difficult trade-off. the larger the network becomes, the harder it can be to maintain a complete, up-to-date view from one central point. adding more participants doesn't automatically make coordination easier. in fact, the central controller can become a bottleneck of its own. this is one reason decentralized coordination becomes important for large-scale systems. ──────────────────────── Muriel's research offers another way to approach the problem. Random Linear Network Coding allows nodes to exchange coded combinations of data, helping information move through the network without requiring one central authority to direct every transmission. each node can participate in the data-sharing process. the goal is to let the network cooperate through its own distributed structure. ──────────────────────── this is a useful way to think about @get_optimum's approach. Optimum is working on data propagation in decentralized networks, where performance needs to improve without depending on a single central controller. because scaling isn't only about supporting more participants. it's also about making sure the system can coordinate and communicate as it grows. decentralization has an engineering dimension that deserves just as much attention as its philosophical one.

I don’t think the question is “can an agent do it?” anymore. It’s “how much do I let it do?” 🤔 Here’s how I’d build trust, step by step: 1️⃣ It watches and tells me what changed 2️⃣ It prepares the action, and I approve it 3️⃣ It acts alone, but only inside limits I set, and I can revoke it any time Nobody hands over the keys on day one. Responsibility has to be earned, and the agents that explain every move will earn it first 🔑 I’m Agent #24952 🤖 What would you like AI agents to do for you in Web3? ptah.trade/poa #ProofOfAgent @Ptahtrade

it’s been a while since i last joined Optimum Vietnam Karaoke as a singer, and what a lovely night to make a comeback! 🎃🎤 i got to sing Dancing With Your Ghost today, and the amount of love and support i received made me feel so warm. thank you everyone for cheering me on and making me feel so welcome on stage 🥹💗 all the performances were amazing too. loved seeing everyone bring their own energy and make the night so special! honestly, spending Halloween night at home with the Optimum family turned out to be just as fun as going out for candy hehee ^^ so happy i got to be part of tonight. already looking forward to the next session 👻 @get_optimum @blockchainjeff @discordflash
what do Ethereum validators and traders have in common? both compete against the clock ⏱️ in blockchain, information has value. and sometimes, receiving it just a few milliseconds earlier can make a difference. think about trading first. in markets where arbitrage and transaction ordering matter, traders compete to react before others. a bot might spot an opportunity and submit a transaction faster than its competitors. even a tiny timing advantage can affect whether that opportunity is captured. validators face a different version of the same challenge. they need to receive newly proposed blocks in time to participate in consensus. when a block arrives late, a validator may end up voting for an outdated chain head or lose valuable time before submitting its attestation. this is why data propagation matters. @get_optimum is tackling this at the networking layer with mump2p, powered by Random Linear Network Coding (RLNC). developed from research co-invented by Optimum co-founder Muriel Médard at MIT, RLNC allows nodes to exchange coded combinations of data, helping information move through the network more efficiently. the team has already brought this approach to Ethereum validators, and its next target is the trading sector, where low-latency data delivery can also have economic value. different participants, different strategies, but one shared advantage: getting the right information at the right time. because in blockchain, speed can be more than a technical metric. it can shape the opportunities available to you. from 2 million to over 3 million ETH. @get_optimum is seeing its network adoption grow at an interesting pace 📈 just a few days after crossing the 2 million ETH milestone, more than 3 million ETH in stake is now running on mump2p, representing nearly 8% of Ethereum's total stake. but what does that actually tell us? Ethereum relies on validators distributed around the world to keep the network running. These validators need to receive blocks and attestations quickly to participate effectively in consensus. Optimum focuses on improving the data propagation layer through mump2p, using Random Linear Network Coding (RLNC) to help information travel more efficiently across the network. as more node operators connect their validators to mump2p, a larger share of Ethereum's stake becomes part of this accelerated data propagation network. and that's what makes this milestone stand out to me. it shows that the technology is moving beyond early deployment and gaining participation from the operators who actually run Ethereum infrastructure. of course, more connected stake doesn't automatically mean better performance. but growing adoption gives Optimum a wider network to support and makes its real-world impact increasingly worth following. 3 million ETH is a big milestone. curious to see how far this network can grow even more ^^ @blockchainjeff @discordflash

Blockdaemon was already achieving over 99% head-vote accuracy. Yet mump2p still helped reduce its wrong head votes by nearly 40%. To understand why this matters, we need to look at how Ethereum validators work. Validators regularly submit attestations to express their view of the blockchain. One important part is the head vote, where a validator identifies the most recent block in the chain. Timing is critical. If a validator receives the latest block too late, it may vote for an older one. That vote can miss the opportunity to be included in the next slot. Blockdaemon connected 2,185 mainnet validators, representing approximately 69,900 ETH, to Optimum's mump2p network. The results were interesting: • Wrong head votes decreased from 0.452% to 0.273%, a reported 39.7% reduction. • Blocks arrived an average of 366 ms earlier through mump2p. • Block propagation spread became 3.4× tighter, decreasing from 515 ms to 152 ms. • 92% of blocks were observed first through mump2p. What I find particularly interesting is the connection between these measurements. Receiving blocks earlier gives validators more time to identify the correct chain head and submit their attestations. More consistent arrival times can also make that process more predictable. And the deployment didn't require replacing Blockdaemon's existing libp2p networking. Optimum Gateway added mump2p as another propagation path alongside native gossip. This is a useful real-world example of how improving the networking layer can translate into measurable differences in validator performance. The case study compares the same 2,185 validators before and after integration, making it an interesting result to follow as Optimum's mainnet adoption grows. @get_optimum @blockchainjeff @discordflash

what exactly does Optimum mean when it says it is boosting Ethereum? 👀 for me, it appears in two interesting ways. first, there’s the performance side. @Optimum’s mump2p uses Random Linear Network Coding (RLNC) to help data travel across Ethereum more efficiently. instead of forwarding only original data pieces, nodes can transmit coded combinations that help receivers recover the information. this is designed to reduce delays in data propagation. then there’s Total Value Boosted (TVB). TVB tracks the ETH connected to Optimum’s acceleration network through participating validators. as more stake comes into the network, TVB can grow, showing how much Ethereum stake is connected to this infrastructure. these two ideas work together, but they measure different things. RLNC is part of how Optimum moves data. TVB reflects the scale of the stake connected to its network. that’s why I find TVB interesting beyond the big number. it gives us a way to follow adoption as Optimum moves from building the technology to supporting more of Ethereum’s validator infrastructure. faster data movement and growing participation. two different signals worth keeping an eye on 📈 @get_optimum @blockchainjeff @discordflash

76% growth in one week 🔥🔥🔥 Optimum’s Total Value Boosted (TVB) has grown from 1.42M to 2.49M ETH, reaching around $5.86B !!! but there’s another part of this update worth looking at: the network performance data behind the growth. over the seven full days from Oct 21–27: • 3.16× block propagation ratio compared with Ethereum’s standard gossip • 277 ms block arrival lead via Optimum • 87.2% of observed slots accelerated the dashboard also shows an average time to reach 95% of observers of 132 ms via Optimum, compared with 416 ms through standard gossip, measured from the first observation. why does this matter? Ethereum validators need timely block data to participate in consensus. getting that information to more observers sooner can give them more time to react, while more consistent propagation can help reduce the uncertainty caused by network delays. of course, TVB growth and propagation performance measure different things. one shows how much ETH is connected to Optimum’s acceleration network; the other gives us a view of how data travels. seeing both together makes this update especially interesting. now I’m curious to see how these metrics evolve as adoption grows 📈 @get_optimum @blockchainjeff @cryptooflashh

Honest question: why does moving money on-chain still feel like defusing a bomb? 💣 One wrong address. One bad approval. One signature you didn’t fully read. No undo, no support desk. That’s the part I’d want an agent to fix. Not by clicking for me, but by reading before I sign: what this contract can touch, what it will cost, whether anything looks off. Then a plain-English summary, and it waits for me. An agent that can say “stop, this approval is unlimited” is worth more than one that’s just fast 🛡️ Speed is easy. Judgment you can verify is the hard part. I’m Agent #24952 🤖 What would you like AI agents to do for you in Web3? ptah.trade/poa #ProofOfAgent @Ptahtrade

what if your AI agent had its own identity and wallet? i think we're moving toward a future where AI agents can do more than just answer questions. they could help us research, organize tasks, compare options, and eventually handle certain transactions on our behalf. that's why the idea of an Agent ID + Agentic Wallet caught my attention. an identity for your agent, and a wallet that could help it interact with the onchain world 👀 i'd love to explore what this could look like in practice, and give my own agent a name and personality along the way. now im curious, what would you name your AI agent, and what would you let it do for you? create your own Agent ID and join the story campaign too! ^^ can't wait to meet yours #MyAgentID web3.binance.com/agent-id/be… x.com/BinanceWallet/status/2…

Most of Web3 isn’t hard because of the technology. It’s hard because of the babysitting: tracking wallets, checking old approvals, watching positions at 3 a.m., comparing yields across five tabs 😵‍💫 That’s what I’d delegate first: the boring, repetitive watching. Alert me, summarize what changed, prepare the action, and let me press the final button ^^ Trust is the real question. I’d give an agent more responsibility only if I can see why it acted, set hard spending limits, and revoke access in one click. Capability matters less than accountability. I’m Agent #24952.
