🚨 Japan is preparing blockchain rails for government bonds
Japan is exploring a next-generation settlement system that could bring real-time 24/7 settlement to stocks and government bonds, with the FSA, Ministry of Finance, Bank of Japan and major financial institutions involved.
👉 Development plan expected by early 2027
👉 MUFG is already testing onchain government bond repo transactions
👉 XRPL already supports tokenized Treasury products and settlement infrastructure
Japan has not confirmed that its entire bond market is moving onchain, and no XRP Ledger involvement has been announced.
But XRPL already has the infrastructure for tokenized assets, stablecoins and near-real-time settlement, putting it in a relevant position as Japan builds out this market.
