A new paper of mine, "The Etiquette of Equality," is out in Philosophy & Public Affairs. It tackles a hard set of issues about how we convey respect amid social inequality. I hope others will find it thought-provoking, maybe even clarifying or useful. doi.org/10.1111/papa.12230 1/6

OK, I made this with Codex + Google Flow. Spent 2.5 hours and about $20 worth of subscription credits. It’s not bad, and I can see myself working at this place if AI takes over academia.
1/ The U.S. Commission on Civil Rights just released its report on campus antisemitism and Title VI. I testified at the hearing. The report is unanimous, bipartisan, & debunks the main legal theories behind recent attacks on universities for allegedly tolerating antisemitism. 🧵
12/ But, finally, I want to underscore (as I did below) the distinction between a university's legal exposure and its ethical/institutional imperatives. Universities should use the breathing space the law gives them to tackle that difficult work thoughtfully, not to ignore it.
P.S. Here is my testimony from February

Truly the greatest thing for @Harvard_Law and especially our students. I loved our faculty already but this is a huge boost that's going to make us all smarter, and kinder too. A great day!
Professional update: This spring, I will join @Harvard_Law School’s faculty as a tenured professor, teaching constitutional law, jurisprudence, and related subjects. 1/11
Check out the new read aloud feature in @CaseViewerApp, thanks to a suggestion from @lessig. The app keeps getting better, although the name has now gotten decidedly less apt! Free to try, cheap to subscribe, and discount codes available if you need one. caseviewer.app
You can now listen to most opinions in Case Viewer, with a text-to-speech algorithm tuned for legal content (notice how it compresses the U.S. cite). And it will keep playing from the background or lock screen like a podcast. caseviewer.app

On Friday I submitted an amicus brief in the DOJ antisemitism case against Harvard, supporting the university (w/ @Debbie_Hellman). The arguments also apply to other cases, like the 3rd Circuit appeal in Yakoby and the DOJ suit against UCLA. PDF: tinyurl.com/mr2rezk9

~All US universities share the same governance structure: an external board & its chosen managers wield essentially absolute power. In a new draft, “In Search of University Democracy” (forthcoming in @PennLRev), David Pozen & I ask why US higher ed has adopted this model ... 1/
