Stablecoins have already reshaped the conversation around money. We’ve seen significant progress in payments, cross-border transactions and access to more stable forms of value, especially where inflation and currency depreciation remain real concerns. But I keep coming back to one question: What comes after the peg? Much of the conversation today is understandably focused on maintaining a peg to fiat and making value easier and faster to move. But could the infrastructure emerging around digital currencies help money become more economically productive, generate greater economic utility, or help economies get more out of each unit of currency? Perhaps the next chapter of digital money is not only about stability and movement, but utility, programmability and economic productivity. It’s a direction I believe will become increasingly important as digital money continues to evolve.
