That is extremely deflating. Beyond belief, really but here we are.
Probably not the time to start asking all the questions, because emotions are still raw, but the reality is that right now Celtic are a Europa League side at best.
Champions League qualification is only becoming increasingly difficult, with even more rounds to navigate next season, and nights like tonight make you wonder when we'll actually be back amongst Europe’s elite again.
Can we compete better in the Europa League? Arguably, yes. There’s still European football ahead of us and plenty to play for.
But that doesn’t make tonight any easier to take. We had an opportunity and once again we’ve let it slip away.
A really, really tough one to swallow.
