However, sometimes committees work *against* the clear will of the messengers, or ignore the work of another committee (even one appointed by Bart). And sometimes it takes floor action by messengers to convince an Executive Committee to change its policy.
Replying to @bartbarber
This measure had been drafted by a committee, reviewed by the Executive Board, submitted in advance for public comment, and written carefully in the light of public comment. As a result the floor, open for discussion, saw none. It was adopted almost unanimously.

It's really a mystery why the dissident "Christian" Right is collapsing into fringe, gutter-level irrelevance.
John Piper is woke, retarded, and wouldn't defend his wife with lethal force. We don't care what he says.

Stop the “Texas election was stolen” bit. The election will be certified by the Republican Abbott hand picked to be Secretary of State, under the oversight of the Texas Attorney General, Ken Paxton. There will be no intervention by the U.S. Attorney General appointed by President Trump.

When the dying cult starts drinking the kool-aid, there are two types of 3rd-tier leaders: 1) The ones who drink the kool-aid first. 2) The ones who shoot everyone who won't drink, then try to save their own lives.

Pop quiz: Which one attended/attends a seminary whose founder was a white supremacist slaveholder? 🤔
Fascinating. And, two @SWBTS (and two Harvard) grads!

"Abortion is so back, baby!" How ironic. That "baby" at the end reminds us how their celebration is really a bloodthirsty threat.
This is what they voted for last night in Virginia, Missouri, and Nevada. When the GOP has weak leadership and refuses to fight abortion, we lose elections and babies die.

A few months back Ezra Klein gave a theory of social media and politics that I haven't been able to stop thinking about. "Whoever wins Twitter pays for it 3-4 years later."

🎯 Talarico: "treat politics like a sacrament" 👀 Grade-A CN at first blush. But stick around for his final comment, which sounds more like Pantheistic Nationalism: "To me, an incarnational politics would take seriously that idea that every person is God."
The religious left has completely lost the churches, but its ethos persists in much of elite secular society. Thus we have Talarico, Hamilton, and Warnock in the Senate, but the left conveniently seems to have forgotten to freak out about "Christian nationalism."

Some very preliminary signs that last night's biggest winner might be the actual mission of the Church.

Policies aside, the candidates themselves represented two counterfeit versions of Christianity.
There’s almost no way to put into words how faithless and pagan this statement is

Well-intentioned, but simplistic. This logic will eventually say we should vote for the candidate who wants unlimited access to abortions, over the one who wants tax $ to pay for them all. At some point, you should say no to both options. Decide now where to draw your line.
When voting in America, ask a simple question: Which of these two candidates will enact better and more righteous policies? Then vote for that candidate.

It also ignores the corrosive cultural effects of electing corrupt, debauched candidates, & bestowing on them power & a perpetual megaphone. To be fair, it's a difficult factor to weigh. But so is the likelihood that a legislative candidate will actually turn policies into law.

I can't trust a political philosophy that says, "Elected officials need to make the will of Christ supreme in society... Also, it's really important to vote for the guy who disregarded the will of Christ in his own marriage."

While decrying the rot in our age's public discourse, CT's editors themselves have slouched toward it.
CT editors (Nov. 6, 1970): “It is always wrong to gossip about things we know to be untrue. This is lying. It is equally wrong to gossip about things of which we are not certain. This is pawning the truth. And it is also wrong to spread damaging information that we know to be true, unless there are compelling reasons for doing so.”

It's almost like Jesus knew something. "If you were of the world, the world would love you as its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you." ~John 15:19
We asked non-religious people to rate a bunch of groups on a scale from 0-100. The least liked among the nones? Evangelicals. Followed closely by LDS and Republicans. The most liked? Well, "people like me" But also LGB people Atheists Transgender people

In a different day and time, where one might hope it would provoke in people some somber reflection upon the fragility of life, the atrocity of murder, and the inevitability of judgment, there might be some value found in public execution.
