TL;DR: If we claim to focus on rehabilitation over punishment, we need real support for prisoners—job coaching, skills training, housing help—before release. Our current approach isn’t working for anyone, & we need a proper budget to fix it, alongside restoring winter fuel pymnt.
This is a desperately sad state of affairs. If we’re claiming to be more lenient with sentences because we focus on rehabilitation over punishment, then real work should be happening inside prisons.
We should be lining up interviews, offering job coaching, and providing skills training. Prisoners should have support in finding accommodation, like bedsits or hostels, before they’re released. Right now, ‘rehabilitation’ feels more like a rinse and repeat cycle, costing billions and clogging up the justice system.
As a country, we need to make a choice. Either we commit to genuine rehabilitation, helping people reintegrate and grow, or we enforce sentences so harsh that they deter crime altogether. The half-baked approach we have now isn’t working—for prisoners, for victims, or for taxpayers.
Let’s set aside a decent budget to fix this. And while we’re at it, we should also restore the pensioners’ winter fuel allowance for 36 months and work towards a fair, means-tested solution.
We need to get this right—for everyone.

2. See how my kids playlist has 3X the next closest playlist and how I’ve done less than 10 hrs fitness this entire yr.
3. Top albums were our attempts of finding music to help put Lucas to sleep. 24k Magic has over 500 plays… & we only started trying Bruno in September. I don’t know what that says about us as parents.
4. I realised my algorithm had been stolen by family life so we now just say ‘play music’ at a speaker and know full well it will be what the kid wants.
👉 Bonus: I just Doxxed myself as an Apple Music subscriber. This will take time to heal.
N.B. kids TV is a great artist and everyone should listen. That’s just facts.
