Halo 2 update on Zebend, and a correction.
I said our Bend verifier was 2.1× faster than the Rust crates. True vs upstream, but I hadn't benchmarked Zakura's crates, which were 4.6× faster than us.

writing zebend has really made me appreciate the efforts of the teams behind @ZakuraZcash a whole lot more i.e. @TachyonZcash and @ValarGroup
so many assembly level clever optimizations to get the absolute highest performance.

we are getting to a point where we'd be a class apart from any prompt-to-game or social-gaming platform out there and the gap won't be close.
onchain games never took off because they were early.
we are going to fix it.
I started working on exactly this in July when I dropped this because the models were not there yet.
Now they are and this looks incredible!
I believe I can take a second shot at this too now.
Bend runs one program across every core and the GPU.
Zebend is fast and efficient.
All 392,806 Halo 2 bundles on mainnet verify in 176 s, about 2.1× the Rust crates. It ships a 2.4 GB snapshot (Zakura's: 12.1 GB) and uses ~209 MB of RAM.
Rust is still faster in some cases.
It's only a week old, unaudited, and our mission is to make it the provably better node for Zcash.

there's literally nothing like it right now.
you get
- cross device terminal sharing (like warp)
- very fast metal rendered terminal (like ghostty)
- full programmability over the panes from the agents (like herdr)
+ it's really really customizable and beautiful inside out.
it's maximalist and tasteful which is a very very rare combo. you tend to miss on finer details when you do that.
@can1357 has truly blessed us mortals.
I have found a potentially serious @apple metal compiler bug while pushing the limits of it while building wraithterm.
quite reproducible, has downstream effects on libraries compiled via the metal toolchain.
not sure if it has serious security implications but a few results I saw were a bit scary for me.
anyone in my TL that can connect me to the right folks at apple for a responsible disclosure.

buying a M5 max was the best decision I took this year.
