Another day. We'll wait for another day. When the sun doesn't hurt, when the tears don't choke, when you are here once more. We'll open the curtains, feel the light. Smile together. Please. An impossible dream. An empty hope. Your laughter gone. I sit alone and fade. #vss365
The colours out my window start to fade. The bright orange of yesterday, falling into grey. Branches bend and snap, as winds wrap around. Leaves scatter, fly, run free. Before gathering together in a pile. Huddling close in the cold. As the dark comes in.

Rain pours, bouncing up from the road, the path, the gutters gushing. I stand and listen. To the world roar, the skies scream, the white noise far from static. Think of you miles away. In a different town, a different house. Hope you're safe. Warm. Free.

The corner of my windowsill I gather things the baby has got me. Sometimes I just look at it and smile.
The fence in the garden is broken. I should pull it down, put it up, fix it. But I leave it, slowly watch it fall.
We drink coffee, eat cake, pass the time together. Watch the seasons change, the leaves fall, hold hands, let go, linger. Afraid of commitment. of what it brings. What it means. How it will hurt one day. Like before. #vss365
Orange leaves stand bright against muted grey skies. A figure of hope fuelling the day. Hours pass and they watch me, watching them. I wonder what do they see. Through the window. A glimmer of something. A spark to keep on.

Saturdays, you'd play the lottery. Bring cake, drink coffee. Talk about the dogs you'd walked. We'd check teletext, see if your numbers came up. I still check every now and then.

A normal day. Rain falls, people bustle. I walk through the crowds. Weave through a tapestry of umbrellas. Stop as I'm hit by a familiar scent, an unexpected pang. I turn searching for you.

Warm air, rain falls, the sounds of the street echo. Too much. Too loud. Too real. I put in my headphones, escape to a world. Where you're not gone.

These are the in-between days, the cusp of seasons. Autumn is sidling through the branches and hedgerows, daily brushing more of her bronze and gold into the green. Every falling leaf, every misty morning, ushers summer a little further along the lane.

October leaf palette.
If you zoom in to the colours and details it will dial down stress a little and help you recover if there's any angst for you later today (research has shown this)馃崄馃崅馃尵馃尶
October night. The moon sits calm in the sky. Trees dance, a bat flitters. I watch through the window. Think of a story I knew. Long ago.
