On October 30, 2026 law enforcement officers responded to a dispute on Lone Pine Trail in Eureka, Montana. When they arrived, the officers came under fire. Deputy Ryan Terpsma of the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office was fatally wounded and a member of the Eureka Police Department was also injured.
The suspect would go on to flee the scene with a seven year old child and repeatedly shoot at pursuing officers. The shooter was eventually apprehended and another victim with fatal gunshot wounds was found inside the home.
Our prayers are with the Terpsma family, the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office and Eureka Police Department, and the entire community who is mourning the loss of a hero.

Today we pause to honor Police Officer John Williamson who was murdered in the line of duty on this day in 1993. At just 25 years old, Officer Williamson had an entire life ahead of him when he was taken from our us.
We will never forget our brother John and the incredible sacrifice he made in service to our city and his fellow officers.
From The Officer Down Memorial Page (ODMP)
Police Officer John Williamson was killed when he was struck with a 30-pound bucket of spackling compound that was thrown off of the roof of a six-story building at 501 W. 175th Street.
He had responded to the scene to assist other officers who were being attacked by several area residents. He was entering his patrol car to leave the scene when he was struck.
The suspect fled to the Dominican Republic where he was arrested. He was extradited back to New York and charged with Officer Williamson's murder. He was found guilty of a lesser charge of manslaughter and sentenced to five to 15 years in prison.
Officer Williamson had served with the New York City Housing Authority Police Department for four years. He was survived by his fiancee, parents, and siblings.
But ACAB, right?

This week, @NYPDPC unveiled a fitting memorial dedicated to the men and women of @NYPDnews. Engraved on this wall are, not only the 23 members killed on September 11, 2001, but also the 469 men and women who have succumbed to the lasting effects of 9/11 related illnesses.
Twenty-five years ago, New York City was attacked by terrorists who sought to inflict unimaginable death and destruction.
Today, as we approach that anniversary, we unveiled a new memorial wall at 1 Police Plaza honoring the NYPD members who took heroic actions that day and in the months that followed. There were 23 members of the NYPD who were killed on 9/11, and we have since lost more than 469 members to illnesses connected to the rescue and recovery effort.
This wall preserves who they were and the extraordinary standard of service they left behind.
May their memories be an eternal blessing.

When we remember 9/11, we often say ‘never forget.’
We must never forget the nearly 3,000 who lost their lives. We must never forget the potential for evil to strike again, and we must never forget how only the devotion of the good can keep all of us safe.
For more than two decades, DHS has been answering the call to keep our homeland safe. As long as there is still life in our bodies and love in our hearts, we will never forget.
Chief of Transit Joseph Gulotta will never forget responding to the World Trade Center on 9/11.
He was diagnosed with cancer, related to his time at Ground Zero.
Thousands share a similar story.
Still, he says he never regrets helping his city when it needed him the most.
Twenty-five years ago, everything changed.
This is dedicated to the first responders who made the ultimate sacrifice, and to the lives we lost and continue to lose to World Trade Center–related illnesses.
We will never forget.
Twenty five years after the worst terror attack in American history, we remember our loved ones, our friends, our coworkers, and our neighbors.
We will never forget those who perished on September 11, 2001 or the thousands that have died from related illnesses since. We will likely never know the real number of lives lost as a result of the worst terror attack on American soil.

Horrible news coming out of Warm Springs, GA this morning.
Rest in peace, brother.
Marty, the girls, and I are deeply saddened this morning by the news that Officer Chris Fisher has been killed. This is a tragic reminder of the dangers law enforcement face on a daily basis in service to their communities, and I ask that all Georgians lift up Fisher’s family and his fellow officers in prayer.

One of the worst takes possible.
She was armed with two puny knives. She could have been tackled and disarmed easily by the police.
She should not have been shot, and even if she were, the officer should not have shot her right in the belly.
This is outrageous! This is cruel, unjust, and excessive punishment.
The officer that pulled the trigger should go to jail for lifetime!
I am not a lawyer, but this should be unacceptable and illegal!

On August 29, 2026 Police Officer Christopher DeLong of the Columbia Police Department responded to a domestic violence incident involving an order of protection. Upon police arrival, the suspect had already left the area. When Officer DeLong left that scene he observed a suspect and vehicle matching the description reported to him and called it in. Then, gunshots rang out that left Officer DeLong with fatal injuries, another officer shot, and the subject deceased.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the DeLong family, the men and women of the Columbia Police Department, and the entire community that is mourning the loss of this hero; a son, a husband, and a father.
