Year 6 had a fantastic time at Cartwright Hall this week. They enjoyed examining Islamic art and discussing the techniques used: geometry, symmetry, arabesque and calligraphy. They even had a go at the different techniques themselves with some fantastic results!

Year 5 have been discovering the wonders of space! The children experimented with a variety of media and textures to craft unique planet artwork. To make our topic even more exciting, Aspen class is now home to an impressive collection of handmade satellites brought in from home.

Tesco has requested poppy crafts to display in-store. Year 4 children used a range of creative techniques, including painting, printing and collage to create their poppies. They enjoyed exploring different materials and techniques to produce their artwork.

Our Reception children are getting into the Halloween spirit with playdough skeletons, spooky chalk drawings and creepy-crawly spiders. They’ve also made their own NCETM Numberblocks, exploring numbers through hands-on, creative play.

This week in Art, Year 3 took inspiration from Jack Kirby to design and paint their very own superhero in a comic style.

Year 1 have been developing their colour mixing and cutting skills as part of a special Halloween art project for Tesco! 🎃 They explored mixing red and yellow paint to create different shades of orange before carefully cutting and assembling their pumpkin creations.

Year 2 had an amazing time on their 'Brackenhill On Tour' trip to Bradford Cathedral. We learnt lots about the oldest building in Bradford and saw lots of exciting things in the Cathedral. We also got to design and colour our own Bradford Cathedral shield! #BrackenhillOnTour ⛪

This week in Nursery, we read Martin Waddell’s Owl Babies. We drew baby owls, studied their shapes, and tried dabbing paint with pompoms. Some of us made playdough owls, exploring materials and bringing the story to life!

This week for homework Year 6 designed their own spy gadget for teenage spies and some children even went the extra mile and made model prototypes.

Year 2 really enjoyed watching the pantomime of Jack and the Beanstalk. We loved seeing the giant and all the characters on stage. We had lots of fun and really enjoyed the show!

Year 1 enjoyed a road safety session, learning how to stay safe when crossing the road and the importance of looking carefully before crossing. 🚦

Year 4 have been learning about Johannes Gutenberg’s printing press and its world-changing impact. We linked this to art, experimenting with materials to create patterns and designs. We loved being creative with printing techniques! 🌟

Year 3 joined a road safety session, learning how to cross safely and key rules. They practised staying alert, spotting traffic and making safe crossing decisions to build awareness and skills. Well done, Year 3! 🌟

This week, Year 5 have been partaking in a road safety quiz testing their knowledge of the Green Cross Code. This was a good opportunity for children to recall what they had learned in their practical sessions earlier in the year.

Today, Year 6 were visited by Road Safety team! We heard Charlie's story and this helped us understand how to stay safe by the roads and avoid distractions while near them.
