Tyre checks aren’t just about avoiding inconvenience. Driving with illegal tyres can mean a fine of up to £2,500 and three penalty points per tyre. Four tyres means four responsibilities. Check yours regularly and deal with problems before getting back on the road .

Pumpkin carving is a great Halloween tradition. But if your child isn’t old enough to handle a sharp knife safely you can use pens, stickers, paint or glitter to decorate your pumpkin. Just search for “no-carve pumpkin ideas”. More tips: capt.org.uk/halloween/

No vibration. No warning light. Nothing feels different from the driver’s seat. That doesn’t mean your tyres don’t need checking. Pressure loss, tread wear or damage may not announce themselves while you drive. A proper tyre check can reveal what the journey doesn’t.
