THE TRUTH HERTZ ... It was a great athletic weekend for WVU as the Mountaineer football team said goodbye to its 3-game losing streak and welcomed in a new basketball which dropped an OT game to Maryland but seem set for a move forward.

WVU's Homecoming thriller had the hills alive with the sound of music and you know the song they singing. Yes, it was also bridge day, a convenience for frustrated Cincinnati fans to jump off of after 45-42 Mountaineer victory.

Jack Cassidy, Northern Ireland's gift to Mountaineer just won it with 35-yard FG/ Amazing, I'd tell you what I was going to write but I have no idea.
In what has become a broken water main of points, WVU comes back on a swing pass from Hawkins for another touchdown, another tie and its 42-42 (They ought to write this one 42+42, because the only minus here could be between the 42s)
WVU had Cincinnati facing a third and 7 but them pick it up, by 52 yards on pass from French to Cole Tabb, another TD came quickly and it's 45-38. It's a question now whether they will run out of points or time in this one first.
You can't say it hasn't been exciting at Mountaineer Field as WVU came right to score, Latimiore capping a 75-yard drive with a short TD on the ninth play and it is tied, 35-35 for the fifth time with 7:29. You've heard the complaints about the WVU D, bet there's plenty in Cincy.
You've heard this song before, but I'll sing it for you again. For the 5th time, UC takes the lead on a short pass from French to Tabb, who broke Ashton Wood's tackle and went into the EZ for a 35-28 lead.
UC has 550 yards gained, 330 passing, 220 running and 11:23 is left.
Hawkins ties the game on a 37-yard pass top DJ Epps, who slipped the last defenders and it's 28-28. There's 14:51 left.
Cincy QB French scored a TD on a fourth and 1 to take the lead back at 28-21 and they now battle the Mountianeers into the fourth quarter. This winning stuff ain't easyfor other side.
Instead of taking advantage of the short punt, WVU offense put it in reverse for 9 yards and had to punt.
WVU gets a big break (or brake, considering the way the defense plays) as they stop UC and then get just a 16-yard punt to take over at the WVU 47.
WVU takes the second half kickoff to a TD on a seven-play, 75-yard drive highlighted again by Hawkins, who ends it with a 4-yard TD jump pass to make it 21-21
Once again, WVU is giving up 10.2 yards per play through the first half and 20.5 yards per completion. It's embarrassing and almost mathmetically impossible.
Jack Cassidy misses badly wide left on a 49-yard FG attempt late in the first half. Cincinnati has 21 points, 366 yards (it keeps getting worse, doesn't it?) and WVU has 14 points.
