It was an honour to address the UN special high-level commemorative session on the 25th anniversary of the Durban Declaration on Monday.
The Durban Declaration was adopted 25 years ago to combat racism, discrimination, xenophobia and intolerance.
In my remarks, I indicated that it must give us all great consternation that 25 years after the Durban Declaration, we are still witnessing extreme intolerance, violence and discrimination manifesting as genocide in Palestine, xenophobia in South Africa and attacks on minorities including Rohingya Muslims and African Americans.
Clearly, we have urgent work to do in creating a new world where every life matters.
This is why the Ghana-led landmark UN Resolution declaring the transatlantic enslavement and racialised chattel as the gravest crime against humanity is a historic step towards acknowledging the root cause of discrimination, injustice and inequality.
The progress we are making after the Ghana-led resolution A/RES/80/250 in securing apologies; engaging in honest reckoning; achieving pledges on the return of looted artefacts and cultural heritage; repair and compensation is the foundation for the new world we are building.
I agree with President Luiz Inรกcio Lula da Silva of Brazil when he stated in his UN address last week that the vote on the Ghana-led resolution is one of the most important votes by the UN in its 81-year history.
In my speech, I also declared Ghanaโs unwavering support for the ICC and opposed attempts to abolish the ICC. Ghana takes the view that international mechanisms for punishing crimes against humanity must be protected and strengthened.

โHowever the notice you sent him is not likely to be used as evidence unless a lawyer drafts and stamps itโ
Where do you people learn these things from?
Not saying a word about whatโs going on but why would you misrepresent the position of the law like that? Fidelity to the law always, thatโs all I preach.

Hon. Kojo Oppong Nkrumah,
You cited page 284, good. Now let us also read it with honesty and economic sense.
The (GHยข62bn) you are shouting about is a year on year variation under BOG OMO sterilisation. It is not fresh money โremoved by NDCโ in 2026. It is a net change in sterilisation stock, largely built up over time, including during your own administration.
Sterilisation is a standard central banking tool. It is used to mop up excess liquidity to control inflation, stabilise the cedi and protect purchasing power. The same NPP government used it extensively when inflation was running wild.
The irony is this. The very sterilisation you are attacking is part of why inflation fell sharply, the cedi stabilised and macro confidence returned. Without it, Ghanaians would be paying the price through higher inflation and currency collapse.
So no, this is not NDC โlocking GHยข60bn away from the economyโ. It is responsible monetary management reflected as a net accounting movement in the data you yourself referenced.
Cherry picking figures does not change economics. The document you quoted actually exposes the discipline that reset the economy after the mess you left behind.
END.
