I have trained martial arts for about 35 years of my life. I grew up wrestling in Iowa. I have a black belt in two striking martial arts. And in the pic below, I’m a 4 stripe brown belt in Jiu Jitsu.
I have experienced numerous aspects of the competitive and non competitive life of combat sports. I’ve been a student and a teacher. I’ve also learned what it’s like to be the young athletic guy and now the middle aged guy.
I train 6 days a week, primarily in gi and no gi BJJ. These rhythms of training create discipline that affects every other aspect of my life. These are some of the lifelong benefits of martial arts.
I would highly recommend it.
