imagine being so smart that your college professor calls you a “national treasure” and personally asks elon musk and larry page to hire you
and musk actually ends up offering you a job at spacex.
this was dario amodei in college
I am anticipating a 20% drop in $SPCX and $TSLA if Dems take the house and the senate. And it won’t be a good time to buy either.
Elon Musk is not actually prepared for what's going to happen if Democrats win one or both chambers of Congress after he's spent the last few years as an overtly Republican megadonor with a lot of self-dealing contracts in D.C.
He's never had to deal with a majority party that's outright hostile to him and his businesses.
Remember what a massive crashout he had just because Biden didn't invite Tesla to an electric vehicle summit one time.
Now imagine how he's going to react when there are House committees spending massive amounts of time and energy investigating his companies for public corruption.
UF is an excellent poaching ground for STEM talent right now. Many faculty and staff scientists are itching to leave and sending out pings to their network.

How accurate was Carl Sagan’s 1995 prediction about America?
“I have a foreboding of an America in my children’s or grandchildren’s time — when the United States is a service and information economy; when nearly all the key manufacturing industries have slipped away to other countries; when awesome technological powers are in the hands of a very few, and no one representing the public interest can even grasp the issues; when the people have lost the ability to set their own agendas or knowledgeably question those in authority; when, clutching our crystals and nervously consulting our horoscopes, our critical faculties in decline, unable to distinguish between what feels good and what’s true, we slide, almost without noticing, back into superstition and darkness.”

Indians who joined the conservative movement because they thought it cared about limited government and merit have been sorely disappointed lately. I interviewed Avik Roy about this. Some great insights here into chud psychology and conservative politics. richardhanania.com/p/waking-…

"We desperately need a billion Americans to compete with China over the next 30 years, but not through immigration" isn't something you can say as a serious person sorry.
Either say it's not critical after all, or discuss options that are mathematically possible.
Replying to @NeilMunroDC @VP
Hey Neil, much of what you are saying is simply not true.
I never argued in favor of mass-migration to beat China, nor do I want to bring in billions of people to drive down American wages. My entire point about needing a minimum of a billion Americans was about having kids.

So many people seem to think the midterms will be a blowout for the Democrats but I suspect they underestimate how much rural Republican farmers who are about to lose everything they have because of Trump want to hear him talk about his gay fantasies on stage every night

The “Make in India” and related military transformations by India was a strategic calculation that has proven very effective at vitalizing India’s private sector, academia and innovations — ultimately shifting India position in the world, its military technology and equipment will continue to advance and be some of the leading items in the world. Congrats. U.S., Israel, and India. Our competitors should continue to buy in China.

It's easy to forget how much the Senate naturally favors Republicans. For Democrats to win the Senate this year, they needed to count on victories in places like Texas, Iowa, and Alaska.
Few people thought that this was possible a year ago, even with a midterms backlash against the incumbent party. But now, states that are normally swing states, Georgia and North Carolina, aren't even competitive. We're talking about Kansas instead.
Really a testament to how much the Trump administration has screwed up.
This old Nimesh clip should finish off Vivek’s chances. It also shows that Indian Americans won’t support a coethnic candidate whose politics aren’t in the country’s best interests. The immediate priority is undoing MAGA’s damage with a thumping Dem midterms win, including gubernatorial races. If Vivek wins, he’ll cuck for the Trump admin and that is reason enough to oppose him.

As turnout in Texas nears 3 million votes, Hispanic turnout is now exceeding presidential levels. More Hispanics have voted than did at this point in the 2024 presidential election. What's driving this huge increase? Young voters.

I'm gonna take a stab: When you're afraid to mention your party's signature economic policy in campaign ads, that might be a sign that the policy is unpopular because it didn't work as promised.
Just such a fun chart here from @greg_ip. If only we could tease out some meaning. Ah, well, nevertheless. 🤣
