I see Garden City Walks as a kind of "anti-hustle" movement. A pocket of time where we walk slowly, we do *not* complete 10K steps. Instead, we stop, look up, look close. On this week's MG Road walk, we will relive the founding of the Garden City... 🧵1/4

Life is cheap in India. We are all alive at the whims and fancies of government employees who cut corners while approving plans, conduct inspections and grease their palms.
#Blast on #Bengaluru footpath ! A transformer box on the footpath outside the Amazon office on Baglur Main Road exploded, injuring two persons walking on the pavement. One fell and suffered severe burns to his hands; the other had minor injuries. Another girl student escaped unhurt. (📹 was captured by Arun G, a parent on the way to drop his kids to school) How are these transformers allowed on busy footpaths? What if child or a pregnant woman or person with disability was walking? Who is responsible? @timesofindia

Hi all, happy to share that the Bangalore Thindi places' list has reached 500 :) few of them have shut down/replaced with something else, but still, 450 odd places is solid. Coverage is decent (Yeshwanthpur to Banashankari, Whitefield to Kengeri). Enjoy! maps.app.goo.gl/3aaitXwPwfdn…

Every event, business, brand is generating posters using ChatGPT and they all look so alike. Even restaurants on Swiggy/Zomato have AI images of their dishes on the menu. I’d prefer plain text to these ugly, soulless posters and pics.

A famous physics teacher @hcvbharat has raised a serious concern after the recent IITB suicide case.Dummy schools, coaching culture, exam pressure and unethical practices are becoming normalised. His message is clear: Success should never come at the cost of ethics, health and life. We need to rethink what we teach our children to value.

We started at the legendary Srinivasa hotel. A place that started as a shed with no name board. Nearly 30 yrs old. Probably introduced pudina masalE to Bangalore. Now they are giving tokens and all to manage crowd & they even have a sidu sidu security uncle to control the crowd😂

Instagram has become a cesspool of doctors (of all pathies and specialities) literally posting their in clinic conversations with patients as content with the patient's face clearly visible. The biggest culprits are obstetricians (and their teams) who have theaterised and dramatised the most personal moment a family can have, when the newborn is shown and handed over to the family members waiting outside the delivery room or OT. Unless the NMC or state medical authorities crack down on this, this will only worsen with time. Doctors creating medical content for the medical fraternity or general population should be encouraged but that cannot be done at the cost of compromising patient privacy. The sort of content created by the non-medical fraternity is even worse but that is for another time.

Some VIP motorcade on the Bangalore airport elevated road. And complete traffic jam below. Marie Antoinette famously said, “Let them eat cake.” Our rulers say, “Let them have jam.”

There are hundred kinds of insults and expletives that one may and can hurl at people in power, irrespective of the office they occupy. The insults and expletives need not always be directed at the female relatives of the person in question, or the person’s reproductive organs or his/ her ability to perform satisfactory intercourse. Unfortunately, we have heard men drag women in their abuses all the time, and possibly don’t expect anything better, but hearing girls/ women of the ‘awakened’ generation use cuss words and profanity that shame their own gender by calling a XY as XX , by thinking people who menstruate aren’t good enough at their work and by objectifying women and reducing them as sexual props was painful. It defeats the whole purpose of women having come so far to have a voice. Having said that more power to people and democracy, hope every minister and government official learns to conduct their duties in a respectful way in words and actions. Also hope there are actual reforms in the education policy beyond the resignation. #RantOver
Criticising the government is a democratic right. Filthy, abusive expletives aimed at the individual occupying the office are not. The office of the Prime Minister deserves respect, irrespective of who occupies it. The Gen Z protesters who mistook profanity for courage & proudly did it on camera are soon going to discover that their language is going to have consequences. We can blame Gen Z all we want .. Now the question is: will we hold elected reps to the same standard? Some (recent incident in at a hospital in Dombivli) have been caught on camera using the very language we are condemning today. Let the consequences (if any) faced by the culprit set a precedent… let’s be fair in calling out profanity no matter whose mouth it’s coming out from. If those in power model profanity, they shouldn't be surprised when the next generation imitates it.

People who never experienced Goa a decade or two ago honestly cannot fully understand why older timers keep mourning the loss of its vibe. Goa was never meant to feel like a generic extension of North Indian wedding playlist and food culture along a beach. It had its own rhythm, seafood shacks, continental cafés, house - trance music, old Goan homes, hippie influences, quiet beaches, natives, artists, foreigners who made it home, and tourists who slowly blended into that culture instead of overpowering it. Goa was iconic precisely because it did not feel like the rest of India. Not anymore except small pockets. – at Bengaluru, India
