Are these AppleColorEmoji bounding rect sizes by design or mistake? (This is compiled with a recent snapshot so the values are accurate decimal representations of the floating point values. Also, the sizes are the same for all emojis, not just the one in this example program.)

Also, are those the number of seconds it takes to do 50 000 operations? If so, I seem to get 10 times faster results from this quick Command Line App using Xcode 9.3 beta 4 default toolchain on my MBP late 2013, 2GHz i7:

Just look at that little warning. Imagine if it could travel back in time and warn about using the same syntax (parens) for at least three semantically totally different things instead.

It seems like the above works (without eg overwriting the Array's count, capacity etc, probably due to special casing of $self for Array-types?), but I guess the following is considered better practice(?):
