I sold my flat in 2015, moved to Japan, lived there for 3y. Joined all tech events in Tokyo btw 2015-2018. I learned a lot about blockchains, i lost money in 2018 dump, I started following @el33th4xor. Sometimes i wondered why i was in Japan anyways. Now i am all in for $Avax ❤️

I’ve added 🔸 to my profile to show my respect for the @binance & @cz_binance’s quick and selfless response to what could have been an existential crises for many OGs in crypto 🙌
We know how important trust is, especially in moments like this. We've now replenished 90% of the stolen assets, and we're committed to covering the remaining 10%. Our users will not bear the financial impact of this incident. We've also shared an updated Proof of Reserves snapshot, and we're working towards resuming withdrawals on November 1. Thank you for your patience and trust. We'll keep you updated every step of the way.

$Aave bouncing back nicely ✅ It was a great buy opportunity, in fact it still is imo. NFA. DYOR. It was $180+ on Oct 6th, 25 days ago 🤷‍♂️ and the correction is hopefully over. Aavenomics 3.0 with buy backs and burns would be soooooo sweet now 😋

As a routine, proactive step following @TheTNetwork’s maintenance update on tBTC, we’ve restricted new tBTC deposits and new borrows against tBTC on Aave. Aave’s contracts are not affected, existing positions remain unchanged, and users can continue to repay and withdraw as normal. Once maintenance is complete, new tBTC deposits and borrows will be available again.
tBTC minting and redemptions temporarily paused We have temporarily paused new BTC deposits/tBTC minting and new Bitcoin redemption requests through the Threshold app as a precaution while security maintenance is completed. Pending redemptions may still be paid on Bitcoin, but final settlement on Ethereum is paused and some transactions may be delayed. Please do not send BTC to previously generated deposit addresses or initiate new deposit/mint or redemption operations through alternative interfaces during this pause. If you have already deposited BTC, keep your deposit receipt and transaction hashes. Do not repeat the transaction to try to clear a pending status. You can continue checking its status in the app’s Explorer. This pause does not affect holding, transferring or using tBTC. We will share confirmed updates, including an estimated time for resuming normal operations when available, through Threshold’s official channels. Thank you for your patience.

Threshold has paused tBTC minting and redemptions as a precaution. On our recommendation, @aave V3 Ethereum Core stopped new tBTC deposits and new borrows against tBTC. Existing positions keep their health factors, and repay and withdraw work normally. governance.aave.com/t/tbtc-m…

I understand some people may have different opinions for various reasons but I’ve been using Binance when I need to use a CEX for about 7-8 years and never had any problems. Whatever the reasons you may have not to like CZ and Binance you have got to reassess it and let it go. $3 billion is a LOT of money and if CZ had hesitated for a second, I for one would’ve been completely wiped out from the crypto scene. I think he saved a lot of people and institutions in fact he may have saved the crypto as a whole. Respect 🫡
one difficult moment doesn't define an entire journey. what matters is the response, the transparency, and the commitment to users.

Yesterday, Binance suffered a ~$5.6B exploit, the largest in crypto history. The attacker then deposited $60M of stolen USDT into @Aave and borrowed ~$44.6M in WETH. Despite the large amount of inaccurate takes floating around CT, Aave remains safe. This is fundamentally different from the LayerZero/Kelp exploit, where collateral lost its value and left the protocol exposed to bad debt. Here, the collateral keeps its full value. At ~74% LTV, the position is overcollateralized, and if ETH rises enough against USDT, the position becomes liquidatable and liquidators repay the debt in exchange for the collateral. Standard mechanics. Aave’s response was just as notable: a joint emergency group formed within ~10 minutes, and new supply and borrowing were frozen across 292 reserves on 16 networks, while users can still repay and withdraw. Aave’s contracts were never compromised. If anything, this was a live stress test of DeFi lending’s risk infrastructure, and it held.

Aave markets are now re-enabled for new positions. Withdrawals and repayments remained available throughout the incident. Aave was unaffected, and all positions remain overcollateralized with no bad debt.
Update following the Binance incident: All markets are now unfrozen across Aave V3 and V4. They were frozen as a precaution after initial reports, which paused new deposits and borrows while withdrawals and repayments continued as normal. Aave contracts were unaffected by the incident and positions remained fully collateralized.

Binance has begun recovering affected assets for users and continues to work with law enforcement, issuers, blockchain intelligence firms and industry partners to trace, freeze and recover additional funds. The company has already publicly committed to cover losses through company funds in the prior announcement. Binance has already reserved over $6.34B of company funds to cover this incident. $5B of these funds are already held in the exact token assets that were impacted. We are completing the purchase of the remaining amount by buying token assets through market channels and OTC channels. We are doing this to match the format of the remaining token assets and address any asset shortfalls. This step can take longer because some tokens may have low liquidity and OTC settlement also takes time. We will share more progress as soon as we can. These figures do not include frozen or protected assets, which remain subject to ongoing recovery and verification. Currently, $3bn has been frozen, with thanks to our industry partners. We are working with partners and law enforcement to recover the frozen assets. We will continue to use company resources to cover confirmed shortfall and will provide further verified updates as recovery efforts progress. Ultimately, all user funds will be verified publicly through our Proof of Reserves. We will weather this storm. Thank you for the support.

Since everyone seems to misunderstand the frozen markets as risk for Aave: It’s just a precautionary measure. dropping borrow caps to zero (effectively disabling borrowing) could have just been enough but that would have left for the attackers a possibility to supply to Aave to make it harder for asset issuers to seize stolen funds.

$INTC intel hacked 👀
BREAKING: Intel stock, $INTC, extends losses to -27% on the day, now on track for its biggest daily loss since 1974. This puts the stock down -53% from its June 30th record high. That’s -$400 billion of lost market cap.

Rough math: $6.x b hack, $3b frozen, $1.x b SAFU fund Gap is about $2b, we have $1.x billion in SPCX alone. Remaining gap is (still painful, but) manageable. 🙏

I respect Stani's efforts to clarify the situation, i dont even remember how many posts he has replied since the incident to say that it was not Aave hacked and that there is no bad debt. It's really hard to keep up with disinformation. I would already be fed up with it. But the Aave is Aave cos the team never gives up. 💪 I am sure the leadership and the risk management team are already thinking new measures to prevent future contagion risk but let me propose something simple. Aave has set the standard for decentralized lending through thoughtful risk management and continuous innovation. Building on that foundation, it would be excellent to see additional internal control measures—similar in spirit to Sarbanes-Oxley-style safeguards—deployed to further protect against collateral-related stresses. In particular, mechanisms that temporarily slow or rate-limit unusually large collateral deposits and borrowings in a single transaction (or short window) could give the protocol and risk parameters valuable time to respond. This would act as a practical circuit-breaker style control without disrupting normal usage, helping reduce the chance of sudden imbalances or breaches. Pairing this with a dedicated collateral coordination channel or “hotline” between the Aave risk team and operators of major collateral assets would enable faster, more coordinated responses during volatility or anomalous activity imo. I am sure there could be so many more institutional-grade controls which would strengthen user confidence, improve resilience, and reinforce Aave’s leadership as DeFi continues to mature. Looking forward to seeing the community explore ideas like these. 👻

what is it about these mixers? who uses them for good purposes? I have never used and needed to use. maybe mixers should be the first to be addressed by Security Enhancement Commision ;)

Such a poor take. Such a poor understanding of decentralized world. Such a shame.
There’s a lot we still don’t know but some observations: - this episode underscores just how unfit for purpose the crypto ecosystem is for mainstream finance. - no, the Clarity Act wouldn’t have prevented this - “tokenizing” stocks on permissionless blockchains is a bad idea

🚨 LATEST: OKX CEO Star Xu says the Binance hack should serve as a wake-up call for the industry, and urges exchange CEOs to unite on stronger shared security standards. “Security is everyone’s responsibility. No company can protect the future of crypto alone.”
