The bad news: Many apps, developer tools and systems may still trust them.
What you should do TODAY:
Update your browser, OS and phone.
Update desktop apps (Slack, Discord, VS Code, etc.) as patches arrive.
Avoid untrusted Wi-Fi until your devices are updated.
Only install updates from official sources.
Ignore any email offering a "certificate fix".
This is a serious compromise of internet trust infrastructure, not just another website hack.

Dave Asprey called oat milk the biggest scam on the planet right now.
He said a carton is basically a tablespoon of oats blended with water that raises blood sugar like a Coke, often carries glyphosate residue, and is loaded with phytic acid that pulls minerals out of the body.
Almond milk didn’t fare much better in his view, high in oxalates that can form sharp crystals and more phytic acid that binds minerals.
For him the simple alternative many people find healing is actual raw milk, but the plant versions he sees as expensive water with downsides.
Strong take, no soft landing.
Science note: Commercial oat milk is enzymatically processed into maltose, giving it a higher glycemic response than dairy or most other plant milks (though usually still lower than a sugary soda). Both oats and almonds contain phytic acid that can modestly reduce mineral absorption, and almond milk ranks among the higher-oxalate plant milks. Individual tolerance and overall diet matter more than any single pour.
The role of scent in physiological development is fascinating.
A recent study has demonstrated that continuous exposure to rose essential oil through inhalation can lead to measurable increases in gray matter volume in the human brain.
In this randomized controlled intervention, 50 healthy women participated: 28 in the experimental group applied rose essential oil to their clothing daily for one month, while 22 in the control group used plain water. Before and after the period, researchers used magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to assess changes in brain structure. The results indicated a significant increase in gray matter volume (GMV) across the whole brain, with a particularly notable effect in the posterior cingulate cortex (PCC), a region involved in memory processing, self-referential thinking, and emotional regulation. No significant changes occurred in areas like the amygdala or orbitofrontal cortex.
The olfactory pathway likely explains this effect: aromatic compounds from the rose oil travel directly to the limbic system, providing sustained stimulation that may promote neuroplasticity and help counteract age-related brain atrophy. The authors suggest this could have implications for dementia prevention, as the PCC is among the regions affected early in conditions like Alzheimer's disease.
This appears to be the first evidence that prolonged scent inhalation can induce structural changes in the adult human brain.

I created the #blacklioncafe brand in 2013 in homage to this magnificent beast that once ruled the plains of Africa through to Asia Minor.
In this 1925 photograph captured by French photographer Marcelin Flandrin during a flight on the Casablanca-Dakar air route, a lone lion traverses the desert, possibly one of the last Barbary lions in the wild before their extinction.
Barbary lions once roamed the expansive deserts and mountains along the Barbary coast in North Africa, from modern-day Morocco to Egypt. Noted for their dark manes, these lions were captured for Roman colosseum games, where they played a role in "condemnation to beasts" executions.
The decline of Barbary lions continued with the Arab empire's expansion from 632 to 1258, as the Islamic Golden Age came to an end. Despite the turmoil and empires falling, Barbary lions endured until European colonists arrived in the 19th century. The rise of big-game hunting during this period led to the demise of the remaining population. No Barbary lions were sighted from 1901 to 1910, and by the 1920s, they were believed extinct.
While reported sightings occurred in 1948 in Morocco and 1958 near Sétif, Algeria, the Barbary lions' habitat was destroyed during the Algerian War. Today, approximately 100 captive lions carry Barbary lion genes, but none are purebred.
