Paul Biya has been president of Cameroon since 1982. At the end of the term, he’ll be 99. Nearly half the country has known no other president.
Despite serving his eighth term, he appears to spend much of his time in Switzerland. wapo.st/4i1ce9V

Dear Africans, Are You Protecting Your Interests?
It's 2026 and the world has seen an indicted war criminal with an outstanding ICC arrest warrant address the UN General Assembly, months after a country's military invaded another country, kidnapped its sitting president and his wife, and locked them up like criminals in a prison in New York where they face trumped up charges.
The state of geopolitics and international relations in the 21st century has never left less room for doubt about the fact that interests and power - not rules - are the true animating force behind how the world works. In this commentary, @big_mck asks Africans the obvious question - who is protecting African interests?

‘Our problem is in the capitalist mindset of the Nigerian working class’
Seun Kuti speaks.
Today we recognise the birth of the Immortal Pan-Africanist, Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, the architect of the All-African People’s Revolutionary Party and one of the foremost strategists and organisers of the African Revolution.
Dr. Nkrumah was a true Pan-Africanist fighting against capitalism and imperialism and dedicating his life to the liberation and unity of Africa.
Under his courageous leadership and through the work of organised cadres, Ghana became independent and served as a liberation base from which other just liberation struggles could be supported. Through political education and scientific organisation, the masses were mobilised to seize their destiny and break the chains of British imperialism.
Nkrumah reminded us:
“Our independence is meaningless unless it is linked up with the total liberation of the African continent.”
His most lasting contribution was his tireless commitment to the unity of Africa and all African people throughout the Pan-African Diaspora, and to the destruction of imperialism.
Among his greatest contributions to our revolutionary struggle was the understanding that we must remain committed to Revolutionary Ideology, Revolutionary Organization and Revolutionary Unity amongst all Africans and international revolutionaries.
Today, we honour his birth by studying his life and work, strengthening revolutionary organisation, and continuing the struggle for the total liberation and unification of Africa.
Forward Ever, Backward Never!

Meanwhile on Chinese TV, they're explaining why America's economics Nobel Prizes don't add up to anything.
Zhang Weiwei: every country that modernized needed a first pot of gold -- the starting capital that gets an economy growing.
"The West got theirs through violence, war, the slave trade. Ruthless plunder, ruthless slaughter."
China earned its own -- "through its own effort and sacrifice."
US-trained economist Wen Yi adds the punchline: Western models literally can't explain where that starting capital comes from. "Economics assumes it's given -- by God."
Which is why copying the Western model was never on offer for the Global South:
"Tell developing nations to copy you -- no pot of gold!"

Update: This morning, President Bola Tinubu (@officialABAT) pleaded with the court not to order the @TheJusticeDept (DOJ), @FBI, and @DEAHQ to release his alleged heroin-trafficking records. President Tinubu finally admits that the dispute involves criminal records concerning him and pleads with the court to block the records from being released.
President #Tinubu cites his right to privacy as the reason the alleged #heroin-trafficking records should not be released and states that the records are being sought “to influence politics in a foreign nation” (in other words, to make him lose the upcoming #Nigerian presidential election).
President #Tinubu goes on to essentially argue that even the Nigerian public’s interest in his background and fitness for office does not give the public a right under FOIA to obtain the withheld information in his law-enforcement records. Nigerians, this is your President.

1.) Does the Nigerian Embassy in the UK go about pretending to be expert in UK elections and releasing statements with each election down to council ones?
2.) Does the Nigerian Embassy in the Uk literally direct UK Civil Society Organizations?
As a Nigerian, you must answer these questions before concluding that your country is sovereign. And if your country still remains a colony of another state, how exactly do you expect it to work for you?
By the way, you see the organization tagged in this post, “Nigerian Civil Society Situation Room,” it is the same organization which sponsors almost every protest in Nigeria, including the last one, Occupy NASS, to which Peter Obi and other so called opposition figures showed up and were hailed for doing so.
You now understand why such protests usually end up achieving nothing. The UK mission in Nigeria is in charge of your agitations.
Oh, Jesus wept.

This report confirms what we’ve known for years: the UAE is continuing to provide robust support for the RSF in Sudan, enabling their horrific genocide. The U.S. needs to stop ignoring this and funneling weapons to the UAE anyway.
