This truly bipartisan victory is the result of years of hard work and unwavering commitment to Social Security fairness. We are proud to stand with our allies in this historic moment. This success wouldn’t have been possible without our members, who answered the call to action by reaching out to their Representatives and Senators. Your voices were heard! 💪

You know why our citizens are being brutalized in the streets of Baltimore on a daily basis? Because there are a total of 536 uniformed patrol officers on patrol when there used to be a thousand. The BPD agreed with FOP3 that there needs to be 980 uniformed patrol officers protecting our citizens. There is half that and the citizens need to demand that the BPD and City leaders do more to retain and attract officers to this city. Right now the compensation and working conditions just don’t match up to those surrounding departments who take our recruits and veteran officers.

Though no amount of prison time will bring back our colleague, we commend Circuit Court Judge Schiffer on her decision to sentence Officer Keona Holley’s murderer to life in prison, without the possibility of parole; a sentence he will serve alongside his accomplice in this heinous crime. They are merely two cowards who ambushed a uniformed BPD member. The Judge’s decision today is just, and we can only hope that every day these cowards spend in jail is worse than the day before. We continue to pray for healing for the Holley family as well as Keona’s friends and colleagues. Also thank you to ASA Bjorklund, State's Attorney Bates and, of course, all of the detectives and members of the BPD for their courageous and relentless work for this outcome.

In addition to these numbers, since Judge Bredar has been overseeing this Consent Decree, the @BaltimorePolice lost 550 more officers than they’ve hired. More time and effort should have been focused on retaining and recruiting officers.
Staffing Crisis at Baltimore Police Department hits breaking point, say Officers foxbaltimore.com/news/city-i…

At yesterday’s Consent Decree hearing, Federal Court Judge Bredar once again gave @BaltimorePolice a pass on the department’s staffing problems. Although he acknowledged the department is hundreds of officers short, he did not press them for any answers. The BPD is the lowest-paid agency compared to competing jurisdictions and will never comply with the Consent Decree without addressing recruitment and retention.

A father 💯❤️
His daughter was competing in her 2nd ever competition & she kept having trouble with her opponent so she turned to her dad/instructor & said “daddy I’m not doing good”
As her father and instructor, he saw this as a valuable teaching moment about the importance of being mentally tough

This will only get worse! @MayorBMScott must substantially improve pay for BPD to allow us to keep our veteran officers and at least compete to get recruits.

Today, a jury of Baltimore City citizens returned with a verdict of Guilty of 1st Degree Murder for one of the suspects in the killing of our friend and colleague, Officer Keona Holley. We would like to take this opportunity to thank the BPD Homicide Unit and all the units who supported them in this investigation and trial. Also, we congratulate Assistant State’s Attorney Kurt Bjorklund and his team from State’s Attorney Ivan Bates’s office. We thank the jury for their attention in this case and hope that future juries follow their lead in weighing the evidence rather than their own personal biases. This cowardly act against one of our own was chilling and we ask for nothing but the harshest sentence possible, which will still not be enough.

Once again, FOP3 is very proud of Detective Parker, Detective Sgt. Becherer, and Detective Lieutenants Purtell and Berry, along with the entire @BaltimorePolice Homicide Unit, for making yet another arrest in the Brooklyn Day mass shooting. As always, the assistance of multiple divisions within the BPD has aided in this success and we continue to expect nothing less than excellence from our talented and skilled colleagues. Keep pushing forward!

Of course, the Lower Command of the @BaltimorePolice Southern District (Major, Captain, Lts., Sgts., and some officers) are being thrown under the bus by the Upper Command at tonight’s City Council Hearing. The Command members at the Districts, and their officers, are “robbing Peter to pay Paul” every shift, in order to put enough cops on the street. That is not the fault of our District level officers and Commanders! You all show tremendous courage by just showing up for work under horribly understaffed conditions and I’m proud of each of you. You are not to blame for the Brooklyn mass shooting on 7/2/2023.

My God, just when you think they can't go lower: A bodega owner who defended himself from an ex-con is in Rikers on $250K bail. It's not enough to let career criminals loose—if you don't submit to their attacks, YOU will go to jail. The absolute depravity.
