After signing Oli Marmol to a two year extension days before the 2024 season, John Mozeliak had this to say:
“What you didn’t want to have happen was if we got off to a rocky start, all of a sudden everybody is calling for someone’s head. There was never any doubt in my mind that he wasn’t going to continue being the Cardinals manager. But coming off the year we just experienced, I think a lot of people would have been happy if we were both gone.”
At 9-13, the Cardinals sit in last place in the NL Central. The struggles are just as much on the players as they are Oli.
But seeing a quote like this makes me think it’s almost as if management was expecting a slow start like this, and gave themselves and Oli an out 🙃

I’ve read about the inevitability of church growth in virtually every church leadership book written in the last 40 years. I even taught it myself.
