Many people in AI trying to replicate Hollywood. That's fine. But that's not where we are going. We have almost zero constraints on what we can create. We are going beyond cinema.

Tomorrow gonna be a movie fr (If they made movies about Discord groups that do foundational research and post-training then blossom into companies that proliferate the most widely used open source agent harness in the world that host an annual conference every year except it's actually more like a big party slash beta test slash merch distribution mechanism)

you're seeing a consistent pattern: - Fortinet: people bought bc of AI cybersecurity 'emergency'. turns out 4q decelerating, management price sensitive. stock -25% - ServiceNow: AI SAAS transformation requires forward deployed engineers, turns out 4q is decelerating - stock -25% - Google: spent entire time on TPUs and AI, going FCF negative while its core business (ads) is - you guessed it, decelerating in 4Q. stock -13% this was after youtube was supposed to be killing Netflix (stock -44% over past year) - Robinhood: big agentic push, Monthly active users sequentially decelerating. meanwhile the consumer sector (big ad buyer) is in beast mode. Cheesecake factory 15% comp, Chili's 10%. Norwegian cruise lifts full year guide - passengers up 22% year over year (983k vs 900k expected). which begs the question: if you have RSI, and AI is the future why are you underperforming fried mac n cheese sales or cruise billings in the middle of a war. like what are you actually investing against so company after company is going full tilt into AI, and not really getting a return - just as everyone is 1] locking in to multi year memory contracts (which is part of the price sensitivity fortinet noted) 2] going FCF negative 3] ready to absorb $2-4T of public equity issuance from the labs meanwhile market rejoices when Oracle *cuts back* investment guidance in data centers. Labs on fund raising roadshows are saying the new demand story is that software and hardware are insecure and need to be completely refactored for AI era. Which is just an expense, with no revenue acceleration - which brings to the macro question of 'is productivity going to accelerate' right now sub 2.5% - needs to be above 4% sustainably for debt dynamics to work out. if everyone has to rewrite their software to address cyber threat environment, and banks get hacked constantly (which is apparently the bull case for labs?) - you enter unustainable fiscal situation and decelerating growth which was buttressed by AI infra investment which (per Oracle) is likely to decel even at macro valuation level, China is far ahead of Europe in AI (non controversial). Hang Seng Tech index trades at 10.5x forward PE while French stock market (CAC Index) trades at 14x while Chinese 5 year yield is 1.3% and France is 4.3% so there's a completely believable world in stocks where you get a lot more inference, and a lot more AI, and multiples decline or costs accelerate. which seems like Blasphemy in SF but if you just listen to public companies seems closer to a base case

As someone who has personally spent $500k / mo+ on Google Ads for years, I can tell you with certainty: This revenue growth in Search is artificial & extremely unhealthy for Google’s business long term Search volumes are declining as legacy search is being increasingly cannibalized by non-monetized LLM queries Google’s response? Manufacture revenue growth via short-sighted, highly extractive, customer-hostile tactics. I.e. charge advertisers more for lower quality clicks, including clicks they do not want and explicitly did not approve Google to charge them for A few examples to illustrate: For all of its history until recently, Google operated on a 2nd price auction model I.e. if you bid $5 CPC and the next highest bidder bids $1 CPC, Google charged you $1.01 for the click (one penny more than the 2nd highest bidder) rather than the $5 you bid This was a genius move by Google early on as it incentivizes advertisers to input their true maximum willingness to pay rather than trying to play the game of bidding low and constantly adjusting to try to stay just ahead of the next highest bidder while still not paying too much However recently, Google silently deprecated the 2nd price auction and began charging advertisers as much as their bid and budget caps allow, regardless of what anyone else is bidding It’s a short-sighted cash grab at the expense of the long term health of the advertiser ecosystem Making thing worse, Google also recently nerfed keyword targeting precision Google previously had precise keyword targeting settings that allowed advertisers pick individual search phrases to bid on, defined down to the character w/ exact match or phrase match targeting This was one of the core features that made search advertising magic, enabling advertisers to run extremely precise campaigns based on exactly what their target customer typed But now, even if you bid on a specific term or phrase using the strictest exact -match targeting settings, Google will show your ad across 1000’s of unrelated keywords, labeling them as as “exact match (close variant)” The definition of “close variant” means whatever they want it to and changes constantly. The result is advertisers get billed for clicks that are totally irrelevant to their business and that their targeting settings explicitly forbid Google from targeting. Google does it anyway and there’s no ability to turn this off So now exact match is broad match, and broad match is just meaningless spam This is all very bad for advertisers, but for Google, it allows them to show your ad and bill you for clicks across 1000x more searches that were previously going unmonetized (mainly because they’re garbage queries no one wants) This is how you grow revenue atop declining search volumes Lastly, and perhaps most egregiously, Google quietly stopped respecting budget caps by a factor of 2x. For example campaigns we’ve been running for years with $1000 daily budget caps suddenly began spending $2000+ per day And the extra spend is entirely on the garbage keywords Google arbitrarily throws in as “exact match (close variants)” which have no value to our business, but can’t be turned off Google offers no refunds nor any recourse for overspend or spend on keywords you explicitly did not target These are not the actions of a healthy business. These are the actions of company whose core business is in decline but desperately needs to pump quarterly earnings so Wall Street will continue to fund insane capex while hopefully looking through their rapidly deteriorating negative free cash flow Google operated a benevolent monopoly for the better part of 25 yrs Meaning the value Google captured from Search was but a small fraction of the value it created, and that spread produced a potential energy that justified expectations of high earnings growth far, far into the future This is now no longer the case At the alter of AI capex, Google is sacrificing the golden goose
Q2 was an amazing quarter, with our AI investments redefining what’s possible across every part of our business. Alphabet revenue grew 24% YoY and Google Cloud accelerated to 82% growth. We saw exciting momentum across the board from Search to YouTube to the Gemini app (which reached 950M monthly active users). Our model APIs are processing 22B tokens/min (up from 16B+ last quarter) driven by our workhorse Flash models. We’re also seeing great adoption of Gemini Enterprise, used by 90% of the Fortune 100, as well as strong demand for our security solutions. Outstanding results and momentum, and such an exciting moment—thanks to all of our partners and employees around the world! 🙌 About to hop on the call!

That's what you get for crossing me Google.
After making my post about google sucking and robbing me they offered me $1000 in credits. Bruh what am I gonna use those credits on? Your service is straight gabage. Trillion dollar company can’t issue a refund because they would rather scum usage kpis by giving away a credit. It’s an institutional problem, most of the employees and leadership need to be replaced by AI.

The pitch deck is dead, and AI killed it. Agencies who win in 2027 will be pitching finished work before they've even closed the deal. Let me tell you a story... When I am not making AI videos to amuse myself and my friends on @X, I spend my days working as a full-time creative professional. One of those roles is as the Chief Creative Officer at a $10 million per year agency. I have 5 people on my creative team. I also run two of my own companies, but that is not important right now... Anyway, I noticed something a few months ago. A sales rep had a prospect that wanted a 45 second animated ad. They gave us no real creative direction. Literally just a meme, and the link to their website. He wanted to know what we could do, how fast we could turn it around, and at what price. We needed to pitch the client the following day to land the business. I took the URL, the meme, and the notes from my call with the sales rep and put it into Claude. I added some of my own magic sauce, skills and context files. In about 90 minutes I had a first pass on the video ad. And it was REALLY good. But now a dilemma: Should we show this nearly finished ad to the client in the pitch meeting? What would their reaction be to seeing something that was already done? Would they value the work? How much do we charge for something that used to take weeks to produce that now takes a couple of hours? The sales rep told me he wanted to show the prospect the ad on the call. I had my reservations, but agreed. The client LOVED it. They had a handful of notes, and needed the finished ad in about three days. We charged them $7,500 and they didn't blink. All in, I spent about 15 hours from start to finish. Looking back, I likely under charged them. They would have paid $10,000. They never saw a pitch deck. They saw their own work brought to life and signed the deal. Since then, we have landed more work this exact same way. I will be pitching a client on a six-figure video retainer today without a pitch deck. We will be showing them 5 samples of creative I produced yesterday for them. This is the new normal. And your competitors are doing this. Are you using AI to deliver client work? And how are you pricing it? Remember this: CLIENTS PAY FOR OUTCOMES. They rarely care how you produce the outcome for them. The client isn't paying for my time. They are paying for my 15+ years in creative and production. My taste. My ability to take a complex issue and make it simple with video. A myriad of other things I have mastered over the years. Anyway, the pitch deck is dead. And I am happy about it.
