tyty it's something I think about a lot bc I studied psych + business and realized that something I'm really interested in is how companies interact with their communities with things like devs on social media, dev updates, announcements, etc. etc. esp since I've been in the space so long and have seen so many iterations of things lol
fingers crossed there's a Riot internship out there for me someday but we'll see xd
It's an incredibly tough situation because I feel like the more personality you put into being someone in those positions, the better you can connect with people and build rapport, but at the same time it also opens you up to being scrutinized and attacked for every minor thing you do.
Also doesn't help that the average person on this platform doesn't particularly care to think critically about what they see or do any form of research, they oftentimes just take things at face value and judge them to be fact (i.e. they think everything is negative because they only see the negative posts, but negative posts will get 200x the traction positive posts do due to the algorithm). This just creates a snowball effect of negativity where people get the pitchforks out over absolutely anything they disagree with, even if it's just company policy that you're informing them about :/
Like you said it's basically impossible to hire someone for positions like this, I've thought of having a sort of faceless team that acts in this way but that becomes no different from the average support account with no personality, so you lose a lot of the benefits. Probably has to be workshopped a lot more since I know there has to be a way to solve it but it's also probably not realistic to dedicate so many resources to something like this when you also have a whole game to run which is very understandable lol
