The Emergent Language and Literacy (ELL) Workshop is being held today in Johannesburg, Gauteng.
This three-day workshop examines the development of foundational reading and writing skills in children from birth to five years, prior to formal schooling. Participants will engage with evidence-based strategies to support language and literacy development, gain insight into age-appropriate ELL competencies, and explore effective approaches for integrating storybooks into early learning programmes.

And Book Dash has a nice selection of wordless books, which means ANYONE can read them to a baby or toddler. Describe the pics, make the noises - have fun!
You can read with your baby too. Just playing with the book itself, or looking at different pictures together, is a great start to developing a child’s love for reading!

We see our books as a “gift to the world,” and although we are working to solve a serious problem, we approach our work with the same feeling of joy that children might experience when receiving their very own, brand new African story books!

Thank you, Book Dash!
Reading together helps strengthen the bond between parent and child. It also helps the child become more emotionally aware. This is great for their future relationships in life!
