It is more of a Las Vegas show than a U2 show and definitely isn’t a U2 tour. It seems to be more about the technology and U2 wanting to be the first to use it. I think once this news sinks in, people will see that it’s a side project and not a sign of trouble.

Yes, this hurts my heart but I also see this as business. U2 are a family. U2 is also a business. They’ve been off for 4 years and this is their cycle. It’s not a world tour. It’s a handful of shows. It makes business sense to me.

What started as an experiment quickly became a personal obsession as so many early U2 songs yielded to a new interpretation. Intimacy replaced post-punk urgency. New keys. New chords. New tempos and new lyrics arrived. It turns out that great song is kind of indestructible.
