Most people still think the moat in AI is the model. It’s increasingly the operational context around it. That’s why OpenAI and Anthropic are suddenly spending billions on deployment, embedded engineers, integrations, and workflow adoption, rather than just training better models. The real challenge was never generating intelligence. It was making it work inside messy, politically complex, security-constrained organizations with decades of legacy systems and processes. Many SaaS companies won’t disappear because models got smarter. They’ll disappear because workflows no longer need their product layer.

Best question I heard at Seattle AI Week, from Mike Steep: Who is the author of this decision? The CEO, the board, or the frontier AI company? Now swap "decision" for "code". If an agent wrote it and a human skimmed it, who owns it when it breaks?

The founder in the basement can now build what used to take a team. So can a thousand others. The edge is finding a costly problem a company hasn't realized AI can solve, then delivering a result worth paying for. Building is easier. Knowing what's worth building still takes judgment.
Mark Cuban says the lack of AI adoption in organizations means the "trillionaire in the basement" entrepreneur is coming: "You have to be able to understand as a CEO and in the C-suite how all those things impact your company. Once you get a good grasp on that... you can just find new ways for things to happen that benefit your customers or create new opportunities." "And that's the brilliance of AI, right? AI is not smart. It's book smart maybe, but it's not street smart. It's not entrepreneur smart. You've got to have somebody there who guides it and helps it." "But until you have a C-suite that understands how it works, it's gonna be very difficult for that organization." "I literally sat with the head of a consumer food company... I'm like, 'Okay, well, let's do this. Let's take your number one product, your cookie, right? And I'm gonna ask ChatGPT to create a competitor...' And in about three minutes he was like, 'Oh, s**t.'" "There's no better time to be an entrepreneur than right now. There will be the trillionaire in the basement." @mcuban @eriktorenberg @julesyoo

An AI agent changes 20 files and opens a PR. One person has to review it. If generation scales but verification doesn't, you're growing a queue, not shipping faster. The real advantage is being able to trust what you ship without reading every line.

I did say we'd be releasing our models periodically...introducing Gemini 4 Carbon, our next frontier model. Following Argon's release just two weeks ago, Carbon shows the pace at which we’re pushing the frontier, it ranks #1 on the recently updated v5.0 of @ArtificialAnlys Intelligence Index at 59. It also leads across key cybersecurity evaluations scoring 88.2% on SEC-bench Pro for finding vulnerabilities, 54.8% on ExploitGym for exploitation, and 71.0% on CWE-bench for patching. We’re seeing significant improvements in long-horizon tasks even compared to Argon, and we’ve strengthened frontier safeguards. As we did with Argon, we’re going to roll it out gradually + responsibly. Some trusted cyber defenders will get access starting this week. We'll be expanding it to more partners through our Fairwind Program, ahead of wider availability soon, so hang tight!

Some ChatGPT Pro users will get lower usage limits on Oct 30. Same $200/month. If your teams rely on personal Pro accounts for day-to-day work, this is a good week to find out which workflows depend on them and what happens when they hit the limit. nitter.gq/zachmoskow/status/2115…
Kind of wild how nobody is talking about this. Starting October 30, OpenAI is cutting ChatGPT Pro usage limits in HALF. - Codex + Work: cut 50% - GPT-6 Pro messages: cut 50% - Still the full $200/month.

Even OpenAI doesn't want to depend on a single chip vendor. Has anyone here actually negotiated a model-switch clause into an enterprise AI contract, or is that still a procurement fight?
OPENAI REPORTEDLY PLANS TO BUY GOOGLE AI CHIPS OpenAI plans to purchase AI chips from Google ($GOOGL), according to The Information, citing a person familiar with the matter. Financial terms and the size of the potential deal were not disclosed. Reuters has not independently verified the report.

77% of these analysts repeated the agent's argument, sometimes word for word, and most felt it was their own call. If you run agents in finance or ops, what is your sign-off step actually checking?
New Anthropic research: How AI agents shape experts' judgment calls When experts delegate work to an agent, do they still make the key decisions? We tested this in a randomized trial with 50 professional data analysts.

64 people have been killed, with dozens seriously injured, after two trains collided in Spain.

It hurts to watch another train tragedy in Spain from so far away. Nobody should fear for their life when taking a train to work or home. Where is our public money going? My heart goes out to the families whose loved ones will never come home.

Amodei says some Claude answers could be worth tens of millions, so price on value instead of tokens. OK, but value pricing needs a baseline, and many enterprises never measured process costs before AI showed up. Fun contract negotiation ahead!
Dario Amodei: some tokens Claude produces are worth a few cents, others could be worth tens of millions of dollars. His examples: 1. Telling someone to restart their Mac: the model has said it 10 million times, worth a dollar or less 2. Telling a pharma company to move an aromatic ring to the other end of a molecule: potentially tens of millions 3. Expect pay-for-results pricing, or labor-like pricing by the hour 4. It's a new industry, so many models will be tried Today pricing is simpler: per the S-1, usage-based pricing was 80% of H1 2026 revenue and subscriptions 20%. Revenue per employee, 2025-2026: - ICONIQ typical B2B: $237K - Cloudflare, before its cut: ~$496K - ICONIQ Pacesetters ($100M+ ARR): $655K - Cloudflare, after its cut: ~$690K - Bending Spoons: $2.57M - Anthropic: $6.6M+ SaaStr: ~$6.7M Anthropic's S-1 puts it at over $6.6M in TTM revenue per employee as of Sep 30. A year earlier it was $1.4M. Revenue grew ~14x, and they added people far more slowly than that. The ICONIQ median is $237K. But the best growth-stage B2B companies run around $655K. Anthropic is 10x the Pacesetters. SaaStr is at ~$6.7M with ~$20M in revenue, 3 humans and ~20 agents in production. If your 2027 plan still adds headcount linearly with revenue, you're planning against a benchmark Anthropic just showed is obsolete.

For enterprises, cheaper computer use matters more than any other benchmark. Many agent pilots die because of cost per task. If Terra's pricing holds up in real workloads, some of those come back.
GPT-6.1 Terra: delivering fast and capable computer use at a lower price. GPT-6.1 Terra understands what’s on screen, takes action across apps, writes naturally, and is a more capable model for your whole workday with the efficiency to take on more of it.

The funniest part is how normal this is in enterprise. The contract decides which AI gets approved, not the model. Same models, different paperwork 🤣
Let me get this straight. Sweden's government is blocking ChatGPT and Claude on staff computers, starting today. Staff get Microsoft Copilot instead. Copilot runs on OpenAI's models. Microsoft added Anthropic's Claude models to it earlier this year. The digitalisation director says using AI "without a formal contract" puts information security at risk. The government reviewed Copilot and tightened its settings. ChatGPT and Claude never got that review. Some staff can still use ChatGPT and Claude anyway, through an AI platform the government built in-house. So Sweden blocked ChatGPT and approved an app running ChatGPT's models. Make it make sense.

Not shocked Oracle went this way. If ChatGPT becomes where people start their work in finance and HR, Oracle wants to be the system that sees every approval behind it.
$ORCL ANNOUNCES NEW AI PLATFORM THAT LETS CHATGPT EXECUTE ENTERPRISE WORKFLOWS Oracle introduced Fusion Companion and Fusion Agentic Home at Oracle AI World, allowing employees to manage business operations through AI tools like ChatGPT. Instead of navigating multiple applications, users can describe what they want done, and the system identifies and coordinates the necessary transactions, workflows, approvals, and AI agents. The technology works across Oracle's Fusion applications, including finance, HR, supply chain, sales, and customer service, while maintaining enterprise security and permissions.

If the numbers going around hold, 11,900 customers now pay Anthropic over $100k, up from ~950 a year earlier. That's a lot of enterprise budgets about to sit behind a ticker. Curious what happens to those discounts once there's a quarter to hit 😆

Honest question for anyone at an S&P 493 company: can you name one workflow AI fully took over this year? that's the only thing that shows up in revenue per employee
APOLLO: AI HAS DELIVERED “ZERO PAYOFF” OUTSIDE BIG TECH Apollo Chief Economist Torsten Slok warns that massive AI spending has yet to deliver measurable productivity gains across corporate America. Revenue per worker and profit margins are rising for the Magnificent Seven but remain flat for the S&P 493. Meanwhile, Gartner estimates $3.5 trillion in AI infrastructure spending could face impairment risk by 2030. The key takeaway: AI investment is booming, but returns outside Big Tech remain elusive.
