In QoAaD we learn that there used to be a stronger type of shadowhunter that used to fight giant demons, but with the disappearance of those giant demons, their time came to an end, and the ability to become a true Nephilim was lost.
THE SHADOWHUNTER CODEX
The first mention of this idea started as soon as 2013. The in-universe book The Shadowhunter Codex clearly mentions how Shadowhunters' ultimate goal is to defeat all evil and, with that goal achieved, obsoleting themselves and stopping being warriors.

yeah, Idk what cc think she is cooking with Kit, but I'm not loving it, bc she also has Kit saying he doesn't go to the Shadowhunter Academy bc he doesn't want to put the students in danger... but who in their right mind would rather put their adoptive family in danger?
