My wife and I were talking about donating last night, and the first thing I saw this morning was this campaign.
Be a blessing.
For my BIRTHDAY... here's what I want: Let's help heal some kids.
Give to CURE. Any amount. I'll match you, personally.
It's about $1,000 to pay for a surgery.
I'll go up to $30k. Together, we'll be paying for 60 kids to have their lives changed.
Like Grace, for instance. She's 11 years old. She's been in pain, almost her whole life. Those days are almost over.
WORTH IT.
Somehow I doubt we'll regret, in the end, paying for kids' surgeries. Give $500, maybe. I'll give the other. Whatever you want.
Just go to cure.org/brant and I will match you!
That's what I want for my birthday. Anybody in??

LOTR might genuinely be one of the greatest things humans have ever put on a screen and I’m not even exaggerating. You can watch it as a kid and think it’s about hobbits and swords and this terrifying ring. Then you watch it as an adult and realize it’s basically about everything that actually matters.
Power corrupts people and evil usually starts really small..Good people can be tempted and courage isn’t about being fearless. Friendship can literally carry you when you can’t carry yourself anymore. The smallest person in the room can change the course of history. You do the right thing not because you know you’re going to win, but because it’s the right thing to do.
Honestly… I think it should be mandatory viewing for kids at some point. Not just “watch the movie” but actually dissect it. Why does Boromir fail? Why can Sam resist what other people can’t? Why does Frodo show Gollum mercy? Why is Aragorn a good leader when he spends half the story reluctant to have power? What happens when someone becomes consumed by resentment, fear, or the desire to control other people? Then make kids apply those questions to their own lives. Friendship, temptation, loyalty, courage, responsibility, choosing who you want to be when nobody is forcing you to choose correctly. There are probably more useful lessons about becoming a decent human being buried in those movies than in half the stuff we make kids memorize in school…and those are learnings and lessons that would stick and could carry you through all of life.
My favorite part is that the heroes aren’t these invincible characters either. They’re tired, scared, tempted, and completely outmatched. Half the time they have no idea what they’re doing but they just keep going….
Then somehow Peter Jackson took ALL of THAT and made three epic movies at the same time, filled them with real sets, real landscapes, thousands of extras, incredible music,… and made something that still looks better than movies being made with $200M budgets 25 years later.
I really don’t think we’ll ever get another thing like it.

I will believe that Christian sexual ethics "doesn't work" the minute you show me someone who died from lack of premarital sex.

Taylor Swift isn't an outlier for going wild over "that's my husband." Wives who rate their husbands as more masculine happier & far less likely to be considering divorce.
✔️ 74% of wives w/ more masculine husbands are "very happy" in their marriage vs. 69% of wives w/ less masculine husbands.
✔️ 64% say divorce is "not at all likely" vs. 45% for less masculine husbands.

🚨INCREDIBLE: During a multi-vehicle collision on the Route 90 bridge in Ocean City, Maryland, a 2-year-old girl was ejected from a pickup truck, falling nearly 30 feet into the Assawoman Bay below.
Jonathan Bauer, who was driving across the bridge with his teenage daughter when the crash occurred, rushed over to inspect the wreckage. Looking down into the water, he saw the toddler floating face down and becoming unresponsive.
Without hesitation, Bauer instructed his daughter to flag down first responders, removed his shoes, and leapt off the bridge into the bay. He swam to the little girl, lifted her onto his shoulder, and patted her back until she coughed up water and began breathing again.
A passing pontoon boat quickly navigated toward them, pulling both Bauer and the toddler out of the water and transporting them to shore, where emergency personnel were waiting. The child was airlifted to a regional medical center for evaluation and released the following day in good condition.
Bauer was later honored by local law enforcement and civic leaders for his decisive actions and selflessness.

After reflecting on the glaring deficiencies of my own life and after years of working with churches across the world, I’ve reached a rather unnerving realization: that the church does not have understanding of what discipleship reallly is or how to do it alanhirsch1.substack.com/p/t…

My book RESISTING THERAPY CULTURE is out today!
It's about how medicalizing normal life makes people psychologically sicker by draining their agency, how this affects the Church, and what a balanced approach to mental health looks like.

Some of the most civilized and highly organized cultures, like Carthage at its wealthiest, had human sacrifice at its worst. Culture, like science, is no protection against demons.

If you grew up in church & attend in your 40s, you've heard 3,000-5,000 sermons.
Yet only 13% of churchgoers say they have been discipled.
So much invested in teaching people what to believe, but far less in discipling in how to practice the words, works, & ways of Jesus.

Anger feels righteous. That's what makes it so hard for Christians to let go of. Author and radio host @branthansen joins Lance Ford on this episode of The Restore Report to make a claim most believers resist at first: that we aren't entitled to hold onto righteous anger and that we fight injustice better without it.

This is an important essay about what happens when "expectations and consequences for bad behavior" are considered oppressive: the vulnerable are abandoned to "addiction, psychosis, violence, and predation."

More than any other single thing, in any case, the practical irrelevance of actual obedience to Christ accounts for the weakened effect of Christianity in the world today, with its increasing tendency to emphasize political and social action as the primary way to serve God. It also accounts for the practical irrelevance of Christian faith to individual character development and overall personal sanity and well-being.

I wrote a book. It's not about Christian Nationalism. It's about a problem that's far more vexing, pervasive, and (dare I say it?) toxic.
Therapy culture uses the imprimatur of science to spread ideas that make people psychologically sicker.
