This is WILD. I wrote this almost 20 years ago and it's gone quasi-viral in the last couple of years. The YouTube video has half a million views!

If you're in Baltimore tomorrow (10th) at Enoch Pratt Library on Cathedral@6:30 pm, my students are performing a live score that they composed for an amazing silent, black-and-white, 1928 French expressionist adaptation of E.A.Poe's 'Fall of the House of Usher'--and it's FREE!

There's a new VICE article on @brekfest's Storm Alert theme, and it's extra fun because they are clearly mistaking me for someone else 😅

I spoke to the wonderful @brekfest on the Weather Report Storm Alert track he wrote ages ago, and recently rediscovered celebrated by the internet. A nice, wholesome story to start your week off right.
Give the piece a read, and the song a listen! A real banger.

I have never played KH, and wasn't even AWARE of it's existence back then, but have listened to that music a lot in the last few years.
At the time, I listened to a lot of Star Wars and jazz/fusion and played games like Medal of Honor and Fable.
Yesterday I heard that a purpose of music theory in college is to develop quantitative skills. In other words, it could fulfill the same role of math coursework.
Did I just miss the memo and this is obvious to everyone, cause it kind of blew my mind?
Gambling.
I swear I'm not a prude, but the normalization of sports betting is a fucking shitty thing.

I recently attended a live to picture performance of Harry Potter by the BSO. Before the show, the audience was encouraged to boo and cheer throughout. When JKR's name came up during the credits I booed.
It was like shouting "O" during the national anthem outside of Baltimore.

After a brief period of time as a trope in media, quicksand is an obvious answer for my generation. At the same time, sand holes turn out to be more of a threat at the beach than sharks.
